Design A Treat Halloween Card and Treat Boxes |
C ute Halloween card and treat boxes using Stampin' Up! products.
For the card:
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of a small orange plaid design from Gingham Cottage 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 3 pieces each 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
Pick out the bat wings and ears die from the Design A Treat Box Dies. One at a time, put it on top of one of the 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" Basic Black rectangles on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed. Repeat with the other two 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" Basic Black rectangles until you have 3 bat wings and ears cut outs.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the wings off the center bat ears at sharp angles on all three bat wings and ears cut outs.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the bat wings and ear cut apart pieces on the vertical piece of orange Gingham Cottage Designer Paper as shown to figure out spacing and placement.
Mount the tiny "boo!" sentiment from the Scary Cute Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it around the bat cut outs 4 times as shown. Change the orientation of the stamp a little each time. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Adhere the bat wings cut apart pieces in place using Stampin' Seal. Then, adhere the cut apart ear pieces in place over the joined bat wings using a couple of Mini Stampin' Dimensional from the Black Stampin' Dimensionals Combo Pack.
Adhere a strip of the black washi tape from the Glitter Washi Tape horizontally across the bottom of the designer paper rectangle so it is about 5/8" from the bottom . Use Paper Snips Scissors as needed to trim the washi tape.
Adhere the designer paper rectangle to the center of the large Basic Black rectangle and then to the front of the Pumpkin Pie card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Design A Treat Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "for you" sentiment from the Design A Treat Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Pumpkin Pie strip.
Pick out one of the small, bumpy label dies from the Design A Treat Box Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the sentiment. Run through the machine.
Use the side of the brush tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to carefully outline the edge of the label cut out.
Use a couple of Mini Stampin' Dimensionals from the Black Stampin' Dimensionals Combo Pack to adhere the label cut out in place so it is centered over the washi tape strip on the right side of the card.
For the bat boxes:
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 5" square from Basic Gray Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Basic Black Cardstock
Pick out the box die from the Design A Treat Box Dies. Put it on top of the Basic Gray square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Use the Bone Folder to fold on all score lines.
As you are ready to stamp using the Design A Treat Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Orient the box cut out on your work surface so one of the rectangles with thin tabs on either side is on the top. Mount the face image from the Design A Treat Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the top rectangle.
Use small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the thin tabs on the sides of the top and bottom rectangles to adhere the sides together and form the box bottom.
Fill the box with treats - candy, coins, jewelry, etc.
Fold down the tops of the box with the curves on top and bring the two curves together in the center so they are touching and pointing up.
One at a time, slide the slits in the other points over the curves and lock in place.
Pick out the bat wings and ears die from the Design A Treat Box Dies. Put it on top of the Basic Black rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Slide the bat wings and ears cut out on to the top of the box just in front of the rounded tab. It is a fairly tight fit and should stay in place okay. If you want to be sure it stays in place, run a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the top of the box and make sure the bottom edge of the bat wings and ears cut out sits in it.
For the 31 boxes (you might want to make 2 at once so you don't waste some of the number cut outs):
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 2 squares each 5" square from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
- 1" x 2" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 7/8" x 1-7/8" from Adhesive Sheets
Pick out the box die from the Design A Treat Box Dies. One at a time, put it on top of one of the Pumpkin Pie squares on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Repeat with the other Pumpkin Pie square so you have two box pieces.
Use the Bone Folder to fold both box pieces on all score lines.
As you are ready to stamp using the Design A Treat Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Orient one of the box cut outs on your work surface so one of the rectangles with thin tabs on either side is on the top. Mount the stripes image from the Design A Treat Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad. Stamp it across the top and bottom of each of the four rectangles around the center. Let the image go off the edges. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Orient the other box cut out on your work surface so one of the rectangles with thin tabs on either side is on the top. Mount the grouping of lines in squares image from the Design A Treat Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it across the center of each of the four rectangles around the center. Also stamp it across the two triangular flaps on the sides. Let the image go off the edges. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Use small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the thin tabs on the sides of the top and bottom rectangles to adhere the sides together and form the box bottoms.
Fill the boxes with treats - candy, coins, jewelry, etc.
Fold down the tops of the box with the curves on top and bring the two curves together in the center so they are touching and pointing up.
One at a time, slide the slits in the other points over the curves and lock in place.
For the striped box, wrap a strip of black washi tape from the Glitter Washi Tape around the center of the box. Trim the ends with Paper Snips Scissors.
For the checkered box, wrap two strips of Pumpkin Pie washi tape from the Glitter Washi Tape around the center of the box so the center edges touch. Trim the ends with Paper Snips Scissors.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the Basic Black rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the long line of numbers in ovals die from the Design A Treat Box Dies. Put it on top of the Basic Black rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the black side is face up and you will cut out the oval numbers "3" and "1". Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
One at a time, carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the oval "3" and oval "1" cut outs and adhere them to the front of the checkered box so they overlap each other a bit in the center and are centered over the lines of Pumpkin Pie washi tape.
Pick out one of the small, bumpy label dies from the Design A Treat Box Dies. Put it on top of the small strip of Pumpkin Pie on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Use the side of the brush tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to carefully outline the edge of the label cut out.
One at a time, carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the regular "3" and regular "1" cut outs and adhere them to the center of the label cut out.
Use a couple of Mini Stampin' Dimensionals from the Black Stampin' Dimensionals Combo Pack to adhere the label cut out in place so it is centered over the washi tape strip on the front of the box.
Cut 2 pieces of black Baker's Twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack each 20" long.
Fold both pieces of twine in half. Tie small bows in the center of both pieces of folded twine. Trim the ends.
Use squished down Mini Glue Dots to adhere the twine bows to the tops of both boxes just in front of the rounded tabs.
