Curvy Christmas Merry Bird Cards |
C heery Christmas cards using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Shaded Spruce Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 6" of white pine boughs or white leafy branches on dark green background pattern from Classic Christmas 6x6" Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/8" square from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
- 3" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Whisper White Cardstock
Insert the large Whisper White rectangle into the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Pick out the curving line of tiny dots die from the Curvy Dies. Put it on top of the Classic Christmas Designer Paper rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it will cut off a section of the rectangle along the top. Make sure the dots are on the bottom edge of the die so you cut off the top of the rectangle just above the dots. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Adhere the curved cut piece of designer paper to the bottom of the horizontal dry embossed white rectangle.
Tip: I adhered to the back side of the dry embossed white rectangle so it is a bit smoother and the snowflakes are de-bossed into the cardstock.
Tip: Use your Grid Paper to help you line things up straight.
Use Paper Snips to cut off excess designer paper on the bottom, left, and right edges.
Adhere the dry embossed white rectangle/curved designer paper layer to the front of the Shaded Spruce card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Curvy Christmas Set or Quite Curvy Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the pine bough or larger leafy branch image (whichever matches the pattern of the designer paper you used) from the Curvy Christmas Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Shaded Spruce Ink Pad. Stamp it on the left edge of the large white square. Re-ink the image and stamp it again slightly to the right of the first image so the bottoms overlap a bit.
If using the pine bough image, stamp it a third time WITHOUT RE-INKING in between the first two images.
If using the leafy branch image, mount the shorter leafy branch image from the Curvy Christmas Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Shaded Spruce Ink Pad. Stamp onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it in between the two larger stamped leafy branch images you stamped previously.
Mount the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the Curvy Christmas Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the stamped white square so it is about 1/2" from the bottom and centered between the stamped pine bough/leafy branch images and the right side of the square.
Adhere the stamped white square to the Cherry Cobbler square.
Adhere the matted white square to the front of the card on the left side so it is about 3/8" from the left and top edges.
Mount the small bird looking to the right image from the Quite Curvy Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the smaller white square.
Pick out the matching small bird die from the Curvy Dies. Put it on top of the stamped bird image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the tool.
Put the small bird cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's back, wing, and tail feathers.
Use the Dark and Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the bird.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends if needed to remove excess color.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the colored small bird cut out to the front of the card so he covers the bottoms of the stamped pine boughs/leafy branches.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 small rhinestones and one large rhinestone from a sheet of Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere one of the small rhinestones to the center of one of the dry embossed snowflakes to the right of the main image square. Adhere the other two randomly to the stamped white square above the sentiment on the right side of the stamped pine boughs/leafy branches.
