Bird's Eye View Spell Book Boxes |
F un treat boxes for Halloween made with Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 4-1/4" x 7-1/4" of non-floral pattern design from Flowering Zinnias 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 2" x 4-1/2" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 1-7/8" x 4-3/8" from Adhesive Sheets
- 1-1/4" square from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
Working on Grid Paper to protect your work surface, use the fine tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to draw thin, jagged lines on 3 sides of the inside box base to look line pages of a book.
Fold together the inside box base.
Working on a Silicone Craft Sheet to protect your work surface, spread a thin layer of Multipurpose Liquid Glue all over the top side of the book cover (use the fat end of the glue applicator to make things go faster). Place the piece of Flowering Zinnias Designer Paper on top of the gluey book cover.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess designer paper along the edges of the book cover.
Put strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the top of the latch part of the book cover. Adhere the 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" strip of Basic Black to the top of the latch part of the book cover.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess cardstock along the edges of the latch.
Fold the book cover on all score lines.
Peel up the protective backings on the inside base of the book cover. Adhere the folded together interior box base inside the book cover so the back of the box is close to the bottom fold of the spine. Make sure the three edges of the interior box base that you can see have the hand-drawn page lines showing.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the remaining Basic Black rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the two "s," two "l," "p," and "e" dies from the Alphabet A La Mode Dies. Put them on top of the Basic Black retangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so they spell out the word "spells" and the Basic Black side is face up. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Note: You are using the cut out letters for this project. Save the black rectangle with the word "spells" cut out of it and the center of the "p" to use on the matching card.
One at a time, remove the protective backings from the letters and adhere them to the front of the book box so they spell out the word "spells" diagonally down the cover from the top left to the bottom right.
As you are ready to stamp using the Bird's Eye View Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the small bird looking straight ahead with the right wing showing image from the Bird's Eye View Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Pumpkin Pie square.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the bird image by hand. Cut the feet off.
Use a Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the bird cut out to the front of the box so he is perched atop the letter "e".
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere an Industrial Trinket bolt side face up to the curved end of the black latch on the box.
Fill the box with treats.
Remove the protective backing from the back of the latch and adhere the box closed.
