Project Recipe
Cut Old Olive cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4". Burnish folded edge with bone folder.
Cut white cardstock 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
Adhere the white cardstock layer to the Old Olive card base.
Cut 2 pieces of coordinating Fine Art Floral DSP at 2 1/8" x 4" each.
Adhere one piece at the top and one at the bottom. If you cut them too long and they overlap, just adhere one edge over the other.
If you cut them too short and there is a little gap (as mine does), that's fine too. The card elements you will add later will mask it.
Using the branch and flower border dies from the Birds & Branches stamp set and die bundle, cut the branch and leaves onto Old Olive cardstock, and cut the flower border on Real Red cardstock.
Adhere the red flower border across the middle where the two pieces of DSP meet.
Here's a tip for applying liquid glue to the back of the flower border die, or any intricate die cut pieces so you don't end up with glue everywhere.
First, cut your Stampin Sponge into quarters. Pull the cut edges together and attach a spring clip to it so that you now have a rounded bottom to use as a dauber. Plus the top of the spring clip acts as a handle.
Next, squirt some liquid glue onto your Silicone Craft sheet, dab a little onto your sponge and then dab it onto the back of the die cut piece.
Now you can lay the die cut image across the middle of the card where the DSP pieces meet. Cut off the edges that hang over the edges of the card.
And by the way, because glue doesn't permanently adhere to the silicone craft sheet, you just run it under water and scrape off any bits of glue with a sponge scrubbie and it's good as new.
Using the Posted for You punch, punch out three pieces on white cardstock.
Stamp one piece with the script stamp from the Very Versailles stamp set, using Old Olive stamp pad.
Next, adhere it directly to the bottom left of the card at a slight angle using either liquid glue or Stampin Seal.
Now take the circle postage seal stamp from the Posted for You stamp set and ink it up on your VersaMark stamp pad, then stamp the top of the image, going over the top and onto the DSP. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat with your heat tool.
Now cut two coordinating pieces of Fine Art Floral DSP 1 1/8" x 1 3/4" and adhere on top of the two remaining white pieces that you punched out with the Posted for You punch. You should have a tiny white scalloped border around each one.
Place them onto the card at an angle to one another and one slightly over the other. You will see from the photo that the one on the far right was cut on the right and bottom to get them to fit the way I wanted. That step is not necessary if you are able to play around with them. But if, like me, you just can't get it to the way you like it without a little trimming, I still think it looks very nice.
Stamp and cut out a bird from the Birds & Branches bundle. This involves two-step stamping. First stamp with the solid stamp using a lighter ink, and then stamp with the textured stamp using a darker ink.
Die cut using the die in the bundle. Then adhere onto the card by nestling its feet behind the red flower border. But you could just as easily adhere it on top.
Now adhere the Old Olive die cut branch with leaves pointing to the right.
Now for some fun making the flowers.
Punch out two flowers onto Real Red cardstock using your Small Bloom punch.
Then punch out some smaller flowers onto Rococo Rose cardstock using the Confetti Flowers border punch. These will be the flower centers.
Pick up a small flower using the putty end of your Take Your Pick tool and dab a tiny bit of glue to the back (either directly or squirt some glue on your silicone mat and dab it from there). Then place it into the center of the larger flower. Do the same with the other one.
Now put one of the completed flowers onto your foam piercing mat, and using the scoring head from your Take Your Pick tool, place the scoring tool in the center of the bloom and press down. The flower petals will pop up. Pretty cool, right? Now do the other one, and then adhere them to the branches on the card.
I added red rhinestones to the center of the two large flowers for added visual interest.
Adhere a few smaller red blooms around the branches as well.
Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Posted for You stamp set onto a scrap of white cardstock and cut it to 3/4" x 3".
Punch each end with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.
For the red border around the sentiment label, cut a piece of Real Red cardstock 1" x 3".
Punch each end using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. Then adhere the white layer onto the red background layer.
Put dimensionals on the back and adhere it to the bottom of the card. Then apply a couple of red rhinestones.
