T
he pop & twist technique gives this fun and sassy card a special surprise when it's opened.
I received a similar card as a swap from a fellow demonstrator named Heidi. Then I watched several tutorials on this technique. The directions I followed came from Joy at Obsessed with Scrapbooking.
Project Recipe
Cut Lovely Lipstick cardstock to 4 1/4" x 11". Score at 5 1/2". This creates a top-folding card base.
Create the twisting mechanism. Cut Whisper White cardstock to 8” by 3 1/2”.
Score in half on the long side at 1 3/4”.
Mark 2 1/4” in from each end on the long side. Score diagonally as shown.
Fold the long sides in to form a little house.
Line the back of one triangle of the little house with Tear and Tape adhesive. Adhere the twisting mechanism to the back of the card base by putting the point in the center of the card base near the fold.
Line the back of the other triangle of the little house with Tear and Tape adhesive. Adhere the twisting mechanism to the front of the card base by folding the card down onto the house.
Create the accordion fold panels. Cut Lovely Lipstick cardstock to 10" x 3 1/2". Score at 2 1/2", 5" and 7 1/2". Accordion fold.
To adhere the accordion panel to the twisting mechanism, you need to open the card and line up the center of the accordion panel with the center of the card base. Hold the accordion panel in line with the twisting mechanism. Fold in the far right panel. Mark an X in the upper corner of the twisting mechanism. Fold in the far left panel. Mark an X in the lower corner of the twisting mechanism. Put tear and tape where you've marked the Xs. Adhere the accordion panel to the twisting mechanism at these points.
Cut 4 Whisper White panels for stamping. Each measures 2 1/4" x 3 1/4".
Stamp on Whisper White panels with desired images and sentiments. Adhere panels to accordion piece.
To create the patterned dress on the lady, I first stamped the lady in Memento Tuxedo black on the Whisper White panel.
I also stamped her in black on a balmy blue piece of the Tranquil Textures DSP.
I fussy-cut around her dress on the blue piece then adhered it to the Whisper White panel.
I colored her hat using the blender pen and the Lovely Lipstick Classic Stampin' Pad.
Fold the card open and closed a few times to make sure the mechanism opens freely.
Decorate the front of the card as desired. Check with your local postal service if additional postage is required, as this card is very thick when folded.
