P retty Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and Foil Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2" x 3-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1/4" x 5-1/4" from Gold Foil Sheets
- 2 squares each 1-1/2" square from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Poinsettia Petals Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect if from ink.
Mount the small, open, 5-point poinsettia flower image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it randomly all over the large vanilla rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Leave some spaces between the stamped flowers. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the small, open, 5-point poinsettia flower image on Block D with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped flowers on the large vanilla rectangle so the petals fall between those that were previously stamped. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Mount the small, solid, 5-point poinsettia flower image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it inside each of the open petals already stamped all over the vanilla rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Mount the small, open, leaf image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it randomly all over the large vanilla rectangle in between the previously stamped flowers. It's okay if they overlap each other or the flowers a bit. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Mount the solid leaf image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the previously stamped leaves on the vanilla rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Unscrew the fine brush tip Water Painter and fill the barrel with water before screwing the tip back in place.
Tip: The Water Painters unscrew in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.
Put some drops of Old Olive Ink Refill into a container or on a large clear block or other non-porous surface. Squeeze a couple of drops of water from the Water Painter into the ink. Mix the ink and water together and get the tip of the Water Painter loaded with inky water.
Hold the inky tip of the Water Painter a couple of inches over the flower and leaf stamped vanilla rectangle at a slightly above horizontal angle. Tap the brush tip end of the Water Painter sharply with your finger to make drops of inky water splatter onto the sentiment punch out. Move the position of the Water Painter around and get more inky water on the tip as needed until you've got all the splatters you want. Set aside to allow to dry.
Tip: The closer you hold the tip of the Water Painter to the cardstock, the larger the splatters will be.
Tip: Make sure you move everything you don't want to get splatters on out of the way before splattering!
Insert the Old Olive strip into the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder so the lines of type will run horizontally across the horizontal rectangle. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to make sure it is lined up straight. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Mount the "May Magic & Wonder bloom this holiday" sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small vanilla rectangle.
Pick out the stitched, scalloped, rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 1-5/8" x 2-3/4" from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Pick out both small, solid poinsettia dies from the Poinsettia Dies. Put them on top of the small Cherry Cobbler squares on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Adhere one small poinsettia cut out to the top of the other poinsettia cut out so they are off set and form a single, more solid flower.
If the splattered and stamped large vanilla rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with the Heat Tool if desired.
Adhere the dry embossed Old Olive rectangle to the bottom of the stamped and splattered large vanilla rectangle.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the thin strip of Gold Foil Sheet to the stamped and splattered vanilla rectangle/dry embossed Old Olive rectangle so it hides the seam between the two layers.
Adhere the rectangle to the front of the Cherry Cobbler card.
Adhere the sentiment rectangle cut out to the front of the card on the left side so it is centered over the Gold Foil strip and is about 1/2" from the left side of the card.
Adhere the layered poinsettia flower cut outs to the front of the card so they overlap the lower right corner of the sentiment rectangle cut out.
Pick out a leaf from the Gold Holly Leaves. Adhere it to the front of the card using a Mini Glue Dot so the end is tucked under the layered poinsettia flower cut outs and angles down a bit as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a medium gem from a sheet of Gilded Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the layered poinsettia flower cut outs.
