Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
For largest bag:
- 2 pieces of the same 12" x 12" pattern from Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper
- 3" square from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-3/4" square from Soft Suede Cardstock
- 3-1/4" square from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/2" square from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
For medium sized bag:
- 2 pieces of the same 8" x 8" pattern from Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper
- 1-1/2" x 4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 3" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
For smallest bag:
- 2 pieces of the same 6" x 6" pattern from Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper
- 1-1/2" x 2-3/4" from Soft Suede Cardstock
- 2" x 4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
Use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score both pieces of designer paper using these measurements:
For the largest bag:
- Score along the top of the paper at 2".
- Score along the other three sides at 3".
For the medium sized bag:
- Score along the top of the paper at 1".
- Score along the other three sides at 1-1/2".
For the smallest bag:
- Score on all 4 sides at 1".
Tip: If the paper has a pattern with a clear orientation, make sure you score both pieces the same so the pattern is right side up on both pieces.
Fold along all score lines using the Bone Folder to get a sharp crease.
Decide which side of the paper you want to have on the majority of the outside of the bag and which side you want on the inside. Fold down along the top (less wide for the largest and medium size bags) score line so the inside pattern shows along the top edge of both pieces of designer paper. Use Stampin' Seal+ to adhere the paper in place.
One one piece of paper, use Paper Snips to cut in along the bottom score line on both sides until you hit the side score lines. Put Stampin' Seal+ on the tops of the side flaps and fold the paper up to make a half box with an open top edge. Use the Bone Folder to burnish the paper to make sure the adhesive sticks really well.
On the other piece of paper, completely cut out the two squares on the bottom edges using Paper Snips leaving only a rectangular bottom flap and 2 side flaps. Put Stampin' Seal+ on the tops of the flaps and insert into the half box you made previously lining up all the edges. Use the Bone Folder to burnish the paper to make sure the adhesive sticks really well.
Tip: Save the squares you cut out on the bottom edges of the paper to use on another project.
Use the 1/4" circle punch to punch holes in the top of the bag for putting in ribbon handles. For the largest bag, you might want to put two holes each on both the front and back upper edges. For the medium and small bag, you might want to punch one hole in each side panel along the top edge.
Cut 16" lengths of ribbon. For the large bag, you will need two lengths of ribbon. For the medium and small bag, you will only need one.
Tie a knot in the very end of one side of the ribbon. Thread the unknotted end through one of the holes from inside the bag and then back through the other hole so the loose end is back on the inside of the bag. Tie the loose end in a knot. Trim the ends. Repeat with the other ribbon if using two handles.
Tag for large bag:
As you are ready to stamp using the Poinsettia Petals Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the medium, outline poinsettia image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the larger vanilla square.
Mount the small, outline poinsettia image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the smaller vanilla square.
Mount the set of 5 interior petals image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Bumblebee Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the previously stamped medium outline poinsettia. Re-ink the stamp with the Bumblebee Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the previously stamped small outline poinsettia.
Pick out the matching sized poinsettia outline dies for both stamped poinsettia images from the Poinsettia Dies. Put them on top of the stamped poinsettia images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the images are centered in the dies. If desired, also pick out the matching solid, interior petals dies for both of the stamped poinsettia images. Put them inside the outline dies so the dies are NOT overlapping each other. The solid, interior petals dies do NOT cut, they just emboss the veins into the flowers. Run through the tool.
Mount the pine bough image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Garden Green Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the horizontal Very Vanilla strip. Without re-inking, shift the stamp a tiny bit and stamp again so you get a two tone look. Re-ink the stamp with the Garden Green Ink Pad and stamp the image again in the center of the Very Vanilla strip. Without re-inking, stamp it again after shifting slightly for a two tone look. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or Simply Shammy. Re-ink the stamp with the Old Olive Ink Pad and stamp it on the other end of the Very Vanilla strip. Without re-inking, stamp it again after shifting slightly for a two tone look. Make sure there is space between each of the stamped boughs for room to cut them out.
Pick out the matching pine bough die from the Poinsettia Dies. Put it on top of one of the stamped pine bough images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the tool. Repeat until you have cut out all three pine bough images.
Pick out the smooth circle die that cuts out a smooth circle that is 2-3/8" diameter from the Layering Circles Dies. Put it on top of the Soft Suede square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the tool.
Pick out the scalloped circle die that cuts out a scalloped circle that is 2-9/16" diameter from the Layering Circles Dies. Put it on top of the Old Olive square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the tool.
Adhere the smooth Soft Suede circle cut out to the center of the scalloped Old Olive circle cut out using Stampin' Seal.
Slightly bend up the petals of the poinsettia flower cut outs.
Adhere the medium poinsettia flower cut out to the center of the matted circles using a small amount of Stampin' Seal in the center of the flower cut out on the back side.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the small poinsettia flower cut out to the center of the medium flower cut out so it is offset and fills in the spaces between the petals.
Use a small amount of Stampin' Seal on the back side of the pine bough cut outs near the bottom to adhere the pine boughs to the matted circles so the ends are tucked under the flower as shown and the tips stick out around the edge of the circle.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a large gem from a sheet of Gilded Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the flower.
Use the 1/4" hole punch to punch a hole in the top of the tag.
Cut an 8" piece of the Gold 1/16" Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack. Fold the trim in half. Poke the folded end through the hole in the top of the tag and pull the folded end out a bit. Thread the open ends through the folded end loop and pull tight. Tie the open ends of the trim around the ribbon handle on the front of the bag using a knot. Trim the ends.
Tag for medium bag:
Unlock the Delightful Tag Topper Punch. Slide one short edge of the 1-1/2" x 4" Very Vanilla strip into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
As you are ready to stamp using the Poinsettia Petals Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "May Magic & Wonder bloom this holiday" sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Garden Green Ink Pad. Stamp it on the tag as close to the right edge as possible with the top of the tag on the left side.
Mount the smaller outline holly leaf image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Garden Green Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the remaining strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Re-ink the stamp with the Garden Green Ink Pad and stamp it again on the other end of the Very Vanilla strip. Leave space between the images so you can cut them out with the die in a later step.
Mount the larger interior holly leaf image from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Bumblebee Ink Pad. BEFORE STAMPING, add Old Olive Ink to the bottom of the inky stamp by lightly pressing it to the Old Olive Ink Pad. BEFORE STAMPING, lightly roll the edges of the inky stamp onto the open Garden Green Ink Pad. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp it inside one of the previously stamped outline holly leaf images.
Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Repeat the inking steps above and stamp it inside the other outline holly leaf image.
Pick out the matching sized holly leaf outline die for the stamped holly leaf images from the Poinsettia Dies. Put it on top of one of the stamped leaf images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. If desired, also pick out the matching solid, interior leaf die for the stamped holly leaf image. Put it inside the outline die so the dies are NOT overlapping each other. The solid, interior leaf die does NOT cut, it just embosses the veins into the leaf. Run through the tool.
Repeat with the dies to cut out the other leaf.
Place the leaf cut outs on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Rub a Sponge Dauber over the open Old Olive Ink Pad to get some ink on it. Rub off some of the ink onto the Grid Paper then rub it onto the leaf cut outs to fill in all the uncolored areas. Get more ink on the Sponge Dauber as needed. Rinse the Sponge Dauber under running water when done to get all the ink off and let it air dry.
Adhere the leaves to the top of the tag using Stampin' Seal so they overlap each other a bit and the stems are near the hole in the top of the tag. Make sure the leaves don't cover the sentiment. Make sure no adhesive sticks out over the edges of the tag.
Cut an 8" piece of the Gold 1/16" Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack. Fold the trim in half. Poke the folded end through the hole in the top of the tag and pull it out a bit to make a loop. Poke the open ends of the trim through the loop and pull tight.
Pick out a couple of gold bells from the Jingle Bells.
Tie the bells to the top of the tag by threading them onto one side of the trim and then tying the trim into a knot.
Tie the loose ends of the trim around the handle on one side of the front of the bag. Trim the ends.
Tag for small bag:
As you are ready to stamp using the Poinsettia Petals Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "Happy Holidays" sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it near one end of the horizontal Very Vanilla strip. Leave room to punch it out.
Unlock the Label Me Fancy Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the large tag punching area as close to the right side of the punch as possible. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked. Keep the remainder of the strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock as well as the punched out sentiment tag.
Hold the Label Me Fancy Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the remainder of the Very Vanilla cardstock into the punch so you will punch the small circle from the cardstock. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Slide the end of the cardstock with the hole punched into it into one side of the punch and get the hole centered in the bump on the end of the punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked. You should now have a little piece of cardstock that matches the end of the label punch with a perfectly placed hole to use as a template.
Place the tag hole template on top of your punched sentiment tag so it is lined up with the left side of the tag. Use a pencil to mark where the hole will be punched.
Slide the left side of the sentiment tag punch out into the side of the open Label Me Fancy Punch and get the small hole punching area centered over the pencil mark. Punch.
Pick out the skinnier, solid berries on a stem die from the Poinsettia Dies. Put it on top of the Soft Suede rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use small dots of Fine-Tip Glue Pen or Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back of some of the berries to adhere the berry stem to the left side of the sentiment tag punch out. Make sure the cut out doesn't cover any of the sentiment or too much of the hole in the left side of the tag. Also make sure no adhesive is past the edges of the tag punch out.
Cut an 8" piece of the Gold 1/16" Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.
Fold the trim in half and poke the folded end through the hole in the tag punch out and pull it out a bit to make a loop. Poke the loose ends of the trim through the loop and pull tight.
Pick out a red bell from the Jingle Bells.
Tie it onto the top of the tag using the trim and a knot.
Tie the loose ends of the trim around the ribbon on one side of the front of the bag using a knot. Trim the ends.
