A
nother card inspired by Wendy Cranford. this one also uses the Tropical Oasis Suite Bundle from Stampin’ Up. I love that we can buy stamps, dies, designer series paper and emblishments using one code - talk about making life easier!
I added a generous amount of Wink of Stella to the pineapple, hibiscus flower and leaves.
This card has a belly band to help keep it closed.
Project Recipe
Cardbase is whisper white, 4.25 inches tall and 11”, scored at 2.25: on each side and folded to meet in the middle.
Using the dies from the Tropical Oasis Suite Bundle, die cut the pineapple out of So Saffron and the top out of Old Olive.
Line up the pineapple die on 1/2 of the front of your card, toward the bottom of the page...tape it down! Cut, then repeat on the other side, making sure the card opens in the middle.
Do the same with the top of the pineapple. You will notice on the top lots of pokey edges, you can trim these down to a more managable look.
Cut a few leaves out of the Old Olive cardstock, we’ll use these to decorate the front and the belly band.
Cut a piece of designer series paper (I used the brown side from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series paper). Using the Coastal Weave 3-D Embossing Folder, add texture to this piece by running the folder through your embossing/die cuttiung machine.
Adhere this embossed piece on the inside middle section of the card; adhere die cut pineapple onto this piece, matching the shape with what you’ve cut out of the front right and left sides. I used multi-purpose glue for this.
Adhere leaves onto the front of your card on the right and left sides.
Stamp a sentiment on a scrap of whisper white cardstock. I used the thank you from the timeless tropical stamp set. I stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
Using the same ink, Tuxedo Black, stampthe hibiscus bloom and leaves. You will die cut both of these and color with Stampin’ Blends. I used Mango Melody for the flower and Old Olive for the leaves. I put multi-purpose glue on the stamen and lots of glitter.
While the glitter is drying cut an 11” strip of mango melody card stock. Wrap around the card and use Tear ‘N Tape (a very strong tape) to join the sides. Don’t make it too tight, you want this to slip off easily. I used Tear ‘N Tape to adhere a piece of the Braided Burlap Trip and frayed the edges. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals I adhered the hibiscus bloom and leaves to the belly band.
I may have mentioned a time or two - Wink of Stella is my friend. I liberally applied it to card...in many places!
Using the 1 1/8” scallop punch, punch out of coordinating DSP. Adhere the sentiment, I used Thank You (cut out with a 1” punch) and add to belly band.
