Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, vellum, and foil sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Smoky Slate Cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Vellum Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 4-3/4" from Smoky Slate Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3" from Shimmery White Cardstock
- 2-1/8" square of mirrored foil finish from Silver Foil 12" x 12" Specialty Pack
- 1-1/4" x 2-3/4" from Smoky Slate Cardstock
Pick out the large, oval aspen tree trunks die from the Aspen Tree Dies. Put it on top of the vellum rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered inside the rectangle. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick as needed to remove the pieces.
Note: You are using the large rectangle with the cut out in the center for this project. Throw away all the little bits and pieces.
Lay the vellum rectangle with the aspen trees cut out in the center on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. Use the Basic Gray watercolor pencil to add some bark stripes to the tree trunks and branches as desired.
Mount the branch image from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Smoky Slate Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 1-1/4" x 4-3/4" Smoky Slate rectangle.
Pick out the matching branch die from the Aspen Tree Dies. Put it on top of the stamped branch on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick as needed to remove the pieces.
Working on top of the Silicone Craft Sheet so things don't stick where you don't want them, adhere the branch cut out to the bottom left side of the vellum rectangle as shown. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess branch on the left edge.
Mount the bird image from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Smoky Slate Ink Pad. Stamp it on the Shimmery White rectangle.
Pick out the matching bird die from the Aspen Tree Dies. Put it on top of the stamped bird on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Use the Melon Mambo and Basic Gray watercolor pencils to add some color to the bird cut out as shown. Use the Blender Pen to blend the colors together and smooth out lines. Remember to stroke in one direction only or the cardstock will tear and pill up. Scribble on Grid Paper when you are done until no more color is coming off the Blender Pen.
Use the Basic Gray watercolor pencil to color in the bird's feet. Do NOT blend them.
Use the Basic Black watercolor pencil to color in the bird's eyeball. Do NOT blend it.
Working on top of the Silicone Craft Sheet so things don't stick where you don't want them, adhere the colored bird cut out to the bottom left side of the vellum rectangle as shown so the bird appears to be sitting on the branch cut out.
Pick out the stitched circle die that cuts out a 1-3/4" circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Put it on top of the silver foil square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Mount the "let heaven and nature sing," "wishing you abundant joy & peace," or "your kindness warms my heart" sentiment from the Perched In A Tree Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Smoky Slate Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining, small Smoky Slate rectangle.
Pick out the stitched banner die that cuts out a 7/8" x 2-1/2" banner from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Adhere the sentiment banner cut out to the center of the foil circle cut out.
Working on top of the Silicone Craft Sheet so things don't stick where you don't want them, adhere the layered banner/circle cut outs to the upper right side of the vellum rectangle as shown.
Use Stampin' Seal and Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the vellum rectangle to the top of the Pool Party rectangle. All the edges should be even. Try to hide the adhesive behind layers as much as possible. Where not possible in the corners, use a very thin layer of glue spread out with your finger tip.
Adhere the layered Pool Party rectangle to the front of the Smoky Slate card.
