P retty birthday card using an out-of-the-box punch idea and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer acetate pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Calypso Coral Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Mint Macaron Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 2-3/4" from Mercury Glass Designer Acetate
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 7/8" x 5-1/2" from Calypso Coral Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Whisper White Cardstock
Unlock the Hot Air Balloon Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate into the punch and get it centered in the large, balloon punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Remove the clear protective coating piece from the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate balloon punch out.
As you are ready to stamp using the Above The Clouds Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the single, large, solid balloon image from the Above The Clouds Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Mint Macaron Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" vertical strip of white cardstock so you stamp the rounded top of the balloon only on one end of the strip.
Slide the stamped top of the balloon image into the unlocked Hot Air Balloon Punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch.
If you don't want too much water in your "vase" then cut off part of the stamped balloon image in a straight line.
Use a small strip of Tear & Tape on the back of the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate balloon punch out near the rounded top to adhere it to the rounded top stamped balloon image.
Pick out the long, thin, pointy-edge lace die from the Delicate Lace Dies. Put it on top of the long strip of Calypso Coral Cardstock on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the top of the die is even with the top of the strip of cardstock. Run through the tool. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the lace die cut out along the bottom edge of the large white rectangle and lay the balloon punch outs on the left side of the white rectangle so they are about 3/4" from the left side and the rounded top is on the bottom and overlaps the lace die cut out by a tiny amount.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Painted Glass Set on an appropriately sized block. Ink it up with the Mint Macaron Ink Pad. Stamp it just above the lace trim to the right side of the vase.
Tip: If you use the "thank you" sentiment, you may need to move the vase a little to the left.
Use the fine tip of the Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends to draw a very slightly curved stem from the top of the vase to the right. The stem should only be about 3/4" long.
Remove the vase punch outs and draw the stem line down about 1/4" more.
Adhere the lace cut out to the bottom of the stamped white rectangle. Trim off excess cardstock on the sides using Paper Snips.
Adhere the white rectangle with lace die cut attached to the Mint Macaron rectangle and then to the front of the Calypso Coral card.
Add some more small pieces of Tear & Tape to the back of the Mercury Glass portion of the vase and some SNAIL to the back of the water portion of the vase and adhere the vase in place so it slightly overlaps the lace cut out and the drawn stem is coming out of the top of the vase.
Mount the rose image from the Painted Glass Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp once on Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it in the center of the small white square.
Pick out the rose die from the Stained Glass Dies. Put it on top of the stamped rose image on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so it is centered over the rose. Run through the tool.
Put the rose cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring the rose with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light Real Red Marker to color in the parts of the petals that you want to have darker.
Use the Light and Dark Calypso Coral Markers to color in the rest of the petals.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Sea Foam Markers to color in the leaves.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the colored rose cut out to the card front so it covers the end of the hand-drawn stem.
Cut an 8" piece of the Mint Macaron 1/4" Textile Ribbon.
Tie a small bow in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon bow to the neck of the vase.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a rectangular gem from the sheet of Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the card front in the upper right corner.
