T his month's swap card was all about the holidays and I chose Christmas.
This card uses a base of Cherry Cobbler (8.5 x 5.5 scored at 4.25). The next layer is Basic Black (5.25 x 4). The next layer is a combination of Designer Paper (5-1/8 x 1.5") and a piece Very Vanilla (5-1/8 x 2-3/8") embossed with the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions embossing folder. This folder creates a 3-D like piece that has much deeper impressions than most embossing folders. I used Fast Fuse to attach these pieces to the Basic Black--whenever you have an embossed piece, snail just won't hold it very well due to the depressions.
Over the seam where the two pieces butt up against each other, I added a piece of the 5/8" Burlap ribbon.
To decorate this card, I cut out pine boughs from Garden Green card stock using the Pretty Pines Thinlit Dies. There are 3 different sizes of boughs and I cut out two of each size to fit over the burlap ribbon. It helps a lot to have the Precision Plate for the Big Shot for cutting these out.
For the Cherry Cobbler bow I had a couple of choices. The Pretty Pines Thinlit set has a nice bow but I chose the one in the Shaker Shapes Framelits. You can stamp the ribbon from the Shake & Celebrate stamp set first and then cut out or you can die cut the bows and then stamp--with photopolymer stamps, it's so easy! I actually cut out the bows (I was making 15 of these!) and then stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink. I then added Wink of Stella over the entire ribbon bow. Love that sparkle!
I wanted a Christmas ornament to hang from the bow and chose one from the Merriest Wishes stamp set. I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla and then cut it out using the Merry Tags Framelit Dies. I went over the colored part of the ornament with Wink of Stella to add a little more bling. I took some of the Gold Metallic Thread, doubled it and ran it through the ornament opening and adhered to the back of the bow with a glue dot. I then added additional glue dots over the thread and attached the bow to the pine garland. I used a dimensional behind the ornament so that it stood out .
The sentiment is from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set. I stamped it on Very Vanilla (1 x 2.5") in Cherry Cobbler ink. I rounded off one end using the Project Life Corner Punch and then sponged Cherry Cobbler ink all around. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals.
Since the base is so dark, you need to add a piece of Very Vanilla to the inside so that you can see to write on it.
