H andmade boxes for holding Valentine treats using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 8-1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock (I used Real Red, Blushing Bride, and Highland Heather)
- 3-3/4" x 6-1/4" from cardstock (I used Real Red and Highland Heather)
- 3-5/8" x 6-1/8" of one pattern from Sweet Talk 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, if there is a directional pattern, cut so the pattern is vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 1-3/4" x 3-5/8" of one pattern from Sweet Talk 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, if there is a directional pattern, cut so the pattern is vertical on the horizontal rectangle
- 1-1/2" x 3-5/8" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Real Red Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" from cardstock (I used Blushing Bride and Highland Heather)
Score the 8-1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock at the 1" mark on all four sides.
With the 11" side of the cardstock horizontal, score the 8-1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock at the 5" and 6" mark.
Fold along all score lines using the Bone Folder to get sharp creases.
Use Paper Snips to cut along the short 1" lines as indicated to make flaps.
Put small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the small flaps. Remove the protective backings and adhere the small flaps to the inside of the large flaps to make a box.
As you are ready to stamp using the Sweet Conversations Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment from the Sweet Conversations Set on Block G. Carefully ink up only the word "Happy" using the side of the brush tip of the regular Stampin' Write Marker (I used Real Red or Highland Heather). Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the word "Happy" on the horizontal 1-1/2" x 3-5/8" white rectangle at an angle as shown so the end of the word is near the top edge of the cardstock and is about 1-3/8" from the right edge. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Carefully ink up only the word "Valentine's" in the sentiment on Block G using the side of the brush tip of the regular Real Red Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the word "Valentine's" on the horizontal 1-1/2" x 3-5/8" white rectangle at an angle as shown just below the word "happy" and slightly closer to the right edge. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Carefully ink up only the word "Day" in the sentiment on Block G using the side of the brush tip of the regular Stampin' Write Marker (I used Real Red or Highland Heather). Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the word "Day" on the horizontal 1-1/2" x 3-5/8" white rectangle at an angle as shown just below the word "Valentine's" and slightly closer to the right edge. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy.
If needed, use the fine tip of the regular Stampin' Write Markers (I used Real Red and Highland Heather) to go over the stamped sentiments to make them darker.
Mount the set of two small outline hearts image from the Nuts & Bolts Set on Block A. Carefully ink up only the top, small heart using the side of the brush tip of the regular Real Red Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the heart just to the left for the word "Valentine's" on the white strip.
Adhere the stamped white strip to the center of the small strip of Sweet Talk Designer Paper. The left and right edges will be even.
Adhere the matted white strip to the bottom of the large, vertical Sweet Talk Designer Paper piece about 1" to 1-1/4" from the bottom. The left and right edges will be even.
Adhere the large piece of Sweet Talk Designer Paper to the center of the large rectangle of cardstock (I used Real Red or Highland Heather).
Adhere the matted designer paper rectangle to the top of the box lid so the box opens on the right side.
Fill the box with treats.
Wrap a piece of Real Red 3/8" Faux Linen Ribbon around the closed box so it will be about 1/4" above the bottom of the stamped white strip. Tie the ribbon in place using a knot so the knot is centered below the stamped sentiment words. Trim the ends of the ribbon.
Mount the robot with heart image from the Nuts & Bolts Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining, small vertical white rectangle.
Put the stamped robot image on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Flirty Flamingo or Highland Heather Stampin' Blends to color in the heart.
Use the Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the robot's hands, feet, ears, and hat.
Use the Dark Real Red or Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends to color in the robot's tube neck, arms, and legs.
Use the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the robot.
Carefully cut out the colored robot image by hand using Paper Snips Scissors. Cut off the antennae.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out robot to the top of the box so his body is centered over the ribbon on the left side.
Mount the "you make my heart go beep" sentiment from the Nuts & Bolts Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of one end of the 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" cardstock strip (I used Blushing Bride and Highland Heather) leaving room to punch it out.
Unlock the smooth heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Unlock the scalloped-edge heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack. Slide the Real Red Cardstock strip into the punch. Punch.
Adhere the sentiment heart punch out to the center of the scalloped-edge heart punch out.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the matted sentiment heart punch out to the top of the box at a slight angle as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one medium jewel from a sheet of Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the right side of the heart being held by the robot.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one large jewel from a sheet of Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the bottom of the sentiment heart punch out.
