F rom the moment I saw the Nute about Squirrels set in the July-December 2021 mini catalog, I knew I was going to purchase it. I first fell in love with squirrels as a freshman in college. Watching them romp around the vast lawns of the UNH campus was fun and relaxing. As I saw it, they added to the beauty of the campus immensely. Even though it has been 37 years (YIKES!), I still love to watch them.
Project Recipe
Begin with a Very Vanilla card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4").
On a layer of Bumble Bee cardstock that measures 4" x 5-1/4", stamp the oak leaf randomly all over using Bumble Bee ink. Adhere this layer to the card base.
On a Very Vanilla layer that measures 2-3/4" x 4", stamp the tree limb in Early Espresso ink in the bottom left, then stamp the squirrel outline in Early Espresso so that she's standing on the limb.
Add the squirrel fill stamp in Crumb Cake.
Stamp 4-5 oak leaves using Bumble Bee and Cajun Craze inks, then add veins to them using Early Espresso ink.
Stamp "Happy Birthday" in Early Espresso in the upper right of the layer, then adhere this layer to a layer of Early Espresso that measures 3" x 4-1/4".
Adhere to card base, then add three Brushed Metallic Dots.
Add a sentiment and a squirrel to the inside of the card. Here, note the color of the acorn. I created the color by stamping the acorn fill image in Crumb Cake and then stamping over it again in Bumble Bee.
Stamp some leaves or a squirrel on the envelope to coordinate.
