P layful summer card using Stampin' Up! products and the Stampin' Blends and rubbing alcohol on vellum technique.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, vellum, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Bermuda Bay Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Granny Apple Green Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Basic White Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Vellum Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 2-1/2" from Bermuda Bay Cardstock
- 7/8" x 2-1/8" from Adhesive Sheets
- 1" x 1-3/4" from Granny Apple Green Cardstock
Place the piece of Vellum Cardstock on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Scribble some random blobs of color in the center of the horizontal vellum rectangle using the Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends. Let the colors overlap a bit. Leave space all around the edges of the vellum rectangle uncolored.
Put some rubbing alcohol in a small container.
Dip the brush tip of the fine tip Water Painter into the alcohol to get some alcohol on it. Touch the tip of the Water Painter randomly all over the colored area of the vellum piece getting more alcohol on the brush tip as needed or hold the brush tip horizontally over the colored vellum piece and flick it sharply with your finger to let alcohol splatter off and onto the colored vellum piece. Let the colors blend together. Add more alcohol by touching or splattering as needed. Set the vellum aside to allow it to dry.
Tip: Thoroughly clean the brush tips of your Water Painters when you are done by running them under running water and/or squeezing water through them from the barrel of the brush. Remember the Water Painters unscrew in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.
As you are ready to stamp using the Nothing's Better Than Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the small, iced interior of the cocktail image from the Nothing's Better Than Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Granny Apple Green Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp the image in the center of the vertical, small white rectangle.
Mount the cocktail glass image from the Nothing's Better Than Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Bermuda Bay Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped iced drink interior image on the white rectangle so the drink interior image is centered in the bowl of the glass.
Mount the half circle lemon/lime slice image from the Nothing's Better Than Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Granny Apple Green Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the lemon/lime wedge on the image on the white rectangle.
Mount the scalloped edge umbrella top image from the Nothing's Better Than Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Daffodil Delight Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the drink umbrella on the image on the white rectangle.
Pick out the cocktail die from the Love You More Than Dies. Put it on top of the stamped cocktail image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the cocktail. Run through the machine.
Mount the sentiment of choice from Nothing's Better Than Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Bermuda Bay Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small strip of Granny Apple Green Cardstock.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the Bermuda Bay strip. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Tip: Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick tool to help peel up the protective backing if needed.
Pick out the word "cocktails" die from the Love You More Than Dies. Put it on top of the Bermuda Bay rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the Bermuda Bay (blue/green) side is face up. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Leave the protective backing in place for now.
If the vellum rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Adhere the cocktail cut out to the lower right side of the horizontal vellum rectangle so it is about 1/2" from the bottom and about 1" from the right edge.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the "cocktails" word cut out. Adhere it to the vellum so the right end of the word slightly overlaps the bottom left side of the cocktail glass as shown.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut apart the words of the sentiment stamped on the Granny Apple Green strip.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the cut out words to the vellum on the left side of the colored area at angles.
Flip the vellum with all the cardstock pieces attached upside down. Put lines of Stampin' Seal and/or Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen behind the cardstock pieces where it will be hidden.
Adhere the vellum piece to the large white rectangle so the sides are even.
Adhere the white rectangle with vellum attached to the center of the Granny Apple Green rectangle and then to the front of the Bermuda Bay card.
