M asculine birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 4" of stitched vanilla lines on green background design from Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper, cut so the lines are vertical
- 1-1/2" x 4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1-1/4" square from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1-1/8" square from Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets
As you are ready to stamp using the Needle & Thread Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the flat bottomed grouping of stitched leaves image from the Needle & Thread Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it on the left side of the large vanilla rectangle so the swirl on the left edge touches the left edge of the cardstock and the straight line across the bottom of the image is 2-1/2" from the bottom of the cardstock.
Insert the stamped vanilla rectangle into the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so the lines are vertical. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to help you get the paper straight. Place the folder with the paper inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Pick out the long, scalloped edge thinlit from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. Place the rectangle of Needlepoint Nook Designer Paper on a Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the scalloped edge thinlit along the bottom of the long edge of the designer paper so you'll cut off about 1/2" of paper and will have 3 full scallops and a partial scallop on either end. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Pick out the 3-leaf sprig framelit from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits. Place the strip of Old Olive Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on the Precision Base Plate on the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the 3-leaf sprig framelit on top on one end. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Use the Paper-Piercing Tool and Die Brush to remove the pieces. Put the leaf sprig framelit on the cardstock again just the the side of the previously cut out leaf at a different angle and run through the machine again. Repeat two more times until you've cut out 4 leaf sprig shapes across the strip of Old Olive Cardstock. Remember to change the angle of the leaf cut out each time and to remove the pieces from the die each time. Throw away the leaf cut outs or keep them for use on another project. Keep the strip of Old Olive with the 4 leaf sprig shapes cut out of it. Keep the framelit out for use in a later step.
Adhere the strip of Old Olive Cardstock with the 4 leaf sprig shapes cut out of it to the scalloped edge piece of designer paper so about 1/8" of designer paper show across the top edge of the cardstock strip and the bottom edge of the cardstock strip is just above the indents for the scallops.
Adhere the matted designer paper/cardstock strip layer to the stamped and dry embossed vanilla rectangle so it just covers the straight line at the bottom of the image and the curved edges of the scallops are about 3/8" from the bottom of the vanilla rectangle.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Old Olive 1/8" Sheer Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the rectangle so it covers the seam between the top of the Old Olive Cardstock strip and the top of the designer paper. Flip the rectangle over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the vanilla rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Old Olive card.
Carefully peel up the protective backing on one side of the piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet and adhere the adhesive sheet to one side of the Old Olive square. Leave the other protective backing piece in place.
Place the piece of Old Olive Cardstock on the Precision Base Plate on top of the Platform on the Big Shot so that the adhesive side (with protective backing in place) is on the bottom (Old Olive facing up).
Put the 3-leaf sprig framelit on top of the Old Olive Cardstock on the Big Shot. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times. Use the Die Brush and Paper-Piercing Tool to remove the pieces. This time, keep the 3-leaf sprig cut out.
Peel off the protective backing and adhere the 3-leaf sprig cut out to the upper right corner of the card front so the leaves are angling down and to the left and the step is pointing into the upper right corner.
Pick out the long, skinny, open label framelit from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits. Place the small vanilla strip on the Cutting Pad on the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the long, skinny label framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Mount the "happiest birthday to you" sentiment from the Needle & Thread Set on Block H. Carefully ink up only the words "happiest birthday" by pressing them to the open Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp along the top edge of the vanilla label cut out in the center. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub, but leave the stamp on the block.
Carefully ink up only the words "to you" by pressing them to the open Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp along the bottom edge of the vanilla label cut out in the center so they are centered under the words "happiest birthday." Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and put it away.
Use strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the back of the stamped sentiment label cut out to adhere it to the front of the card so it is centered over the ribbon on the card front.
Pick out a triple silver leaf from the Leaves Trinkets. Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere it to the front of the card so the stem just to the left of the sentiment on the label cut out and the leaves are pointing up and to the left and overlap the stamped image on the vanilla layer a bit.
Cut a 3" piece of Old Olive 1/8" Sheer Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to bottom of the Leaves Trinket stem.
