Project Recipe
Paper Cut Sizes:
Basic Gray Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4
Whisper White 1st Layer - 4 x 5 1/4
Gray Granite strip ~ 2 x 5 1/4
Whisper White strip ~ 2 1/2 x 5 1/4
Vellum Strip ~ 1 1/2 x 5 1/4
Silver Foil ~ 4 x 3
Use the 1" circle punch to punch a moon or sun from a scrap of whisper white or Daffodil Delight. Use the mountain die to cut a set of mountains from the vellum. If you stick the little circle you punched out under the mountain die at the top edge its edge will match the edge of an outlined of peak.
Use two large pine tree dies to cut out trees from the silver foil.
On the 3 inch strip of whisper white we will stamp the outline (back of the stamp) of the mountains in Balmy Blue stamping off once first. This image should have the highest peaks about 1/4" from the top edge.
A little under your first layer of stamped off mountains you are going to use the back of the stamp again and balmy blue to make another layer of mountains. This time do not stamp off and offset the peaks so they are not lined up.
Now clean the back of the mountain stamp. Remove the stamp from the block and turn it around so that the detailed mountains are what will be inked next. Use Blueberry Bushel ink to stamp the detailed mountains below the previously stamped outlines so that they slightly overlap. Again offset the mountain peaks. Take an aqua painter or blender pen and blend color (light balmy blue) into the base of the mountains.
Cut along the tops of the top layer of mountains with scissors. Let the panel dry completely.
If your Smoky Slate strip already has a die cut ridge of tree outlined in the top all you need to do is ink in the pine trees in Pretty Peacock in the same manner as below only don't leave any space between the outlined edge of the pine trees and your stamp.
About 1/4 inch from the top of the Smoky Slate strip, stamp the tree line and ground in Pretty Peacock ink. Stamp again without re-inking about 1/4" below the first tree line.
Use the tree line edge die to cut the top of the trees from the strip like this.
On the second 2" strip of Whisper White sponge Highland Heather using a circular motion and starting off the page. Cover about 1/2 the strip with sponged Highland Heather.
Sponge Flirty Flamingo on the Whisper White band next to the Highland Heather. Again using circular motion and taping off or starting off the paper on scrap. Overlap the Highland Heather with the Flirty Flamingo and leave a narrow uncolored strip at the top. Sponge this narrow uncolored strip with Crushed Curry ink in the same manner as the last sponged coloring.
Now we start the layering. On the Basic Gray base glue the Slate Gray panel. 1/8" from the top and sides glue on the sky panel with the Crushed Curry color at the top edge.
Then add glue to the back bottom of the vellum mountain outline and adhere it just below the sky panel so that the mountains overlap the Highland Heather sponging.
Then glue the cut out mountain panel over the vellum extending down ~ 2".
Then glue on the last panel of the Slate Gray pine trees very slightly overlapping the mountain panel and creating a margin on the bottom of ~ 1/8"
Stamp the birds onto the sky in Memento black ink. Adhere the silver foil trees to the card front.
Stamp the detailed mountain image on the Whisper White insert and envelope. (You can stamp of if you prefer.) Glue the insert into the inside of the card.
