T his is a great masculine birthday card using the faux leather technique.
Project Recipe
For the card base, score a 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock in half.
Adhere a 5 3/8 x 4 1/8" piece of Chocolate Chip card stock on the card front.
Cut another piece of Very Vanilla card stock at 5 1/8 x 3 7/8". You will need some masking tape for the faux leather technique. Tear small pieces of masking tape and apply them to this piece of card stock, covering the entire piece. Try not to have a 'straight' edge of masking tape, it looks more realistic to have ragged looking ends of the tape. Don't worry about tape that is hanging over the edge of the card stock, just trim it off when you are done . Now take a sponge and Chocolate Chip ink and sponge over the masking tape until you like the desired effect.
To finish up the faux leather look, cover the entire piece of masking-tape covered card stock with Clear Versamark, apply Clear Embossing powder and heat. You can add a second layer of Versamark and Embossing powder onto this if you like, to give it even more of a sheen.
Punch 3 small holes in the upper left corner of the leather-look card stock, and insert 3 small brads to add interest to the card. When you have added the brads, you are ready to adhere it to the Chocolate Chip layer of card stock on your card front.
Using Chocolate Chip ink, stamp the fox image from 'The Wilderness Awaits' stamp set onto a small piece of Very Vanilla card stock. Cut it out using the smallest framelit from the Deco Labels Collection.
Using the second largest framelit from the Deco Labels Collection, cut a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, and dry emboss with the folder of your choice--I used the Square Lattice folder which, unfortunately is currently retired.
Snail the stamped fox image piece onto the Chocolate Chip piece you just cut out, then use Dimensionals to adhere to your card front.
Stamp a small piece of Very Vanilla card stock with ' For you' and punch out using the Decorative Label punch. Holding the piece you just punched out, turn it around and punch again to make a small decorative pice to adhere to your card with DImensionals.
