I made this card for one of my Facebook group's March 2021 Blog Hop. The theme this month is "Scene 2". We could make any type of project using Stampin' Up! products to create a scene. I decided to re-create the scene from Finding Nemo where Nemo and Dory encounter Crush and Squirt in the jellyfish field. I hope you enjoy my take on this scene.
Project Recipe
I started my card with a standard card base of 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" Blackberry Bliss card stock scored at 4-1/4".
I used a Stampin' Chalk Marker to make hash marks 1/4" in from the fold, sides, and bottom so that I could cut out a rectangle. I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut out a 3-1/4 x 4-1/2" "window". If you have a big enough die, you could use that as well.
I placed Tear & Tape Adhesive around the interior of my frame then placed my 4-1/8 x 5-3/8" piece of Window Sheet on the Tear & Tape. I cut it slightly less than a 1/4 sheet of card stock so that when I placed my backing, the Window Sheet won't show. This now gives my card the effect of an aquarium.
I placed my "frame" over the sheet of DSP that I was using for my scene and marked where I wanted to trim the paper then cut the paper accordingly. I did a lot of fussy cutting on this project. (I don't really mind fussy cutting. I do it while I'm watching TV and I rather enjoy it.) Before I started, I attached scrap pieces of Adhesive Sheets where my images were so that when I went to apply them, I didn't have to worry about Liquid Glue.
Next I decorated my scene. I may have gone a bit overboard though.
Once my scene was finished, I placed Tear & Tape around the edges on the face of the scene. Again, I cut this slightly smaller than a 1/4 sheet of card stock. I then mounted the scene with the scene facing the Window Sheet.
I placed Tear & Tape around the outer edges of the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock and adhered this to the back side of the scene. This gives the inside of the front a finished look.
Next, I placed Tear & Tape on the 4-1/8 x 5-3/8" Basic White card stock and attached it to the inside of the card.
Then, I did the same thing with the 4 x 5-1/4" piece of Pool Party card stock and attached this to the Basic White layer. I don't normally use two layers on the inside, but I didn't think the Pool Party would look very good against the Blackberry Bliss.
I placed a piece of the Adhesive Sheets to the back of the Whale of a Time 6 x 6" DSP then fussy cut the scene. I know it was probably a bit crazy but I guess you could say I got on a roll. I added a little bit of Multipupose Liquid Glue to "Crush" and attached him to the scene. Because I had fussy cut all the seaweed, I could weave him behind some of it.
All in all, I really enjoyed making this card. This is the first set I bought after signing up. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I have 3 grandchildren and my oldest granddaughter absolutely loves animals! I have already made a lot of cards from the Whale of a Time set and gotten so many compliments on them.
I also made a more simplified version of the card (before my imagination went wild!).
