S weet Valentine treat box using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and acetate pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- 2 pieces from Powder Pink Cardstock each 4-1/2" x 6-3/4"
- 3" square from Dapper Denim Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3" of scalloped design from Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Melon Mambo Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Powder Pink Cardstock
- mermaid cut from a sheet of Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper
Pick out the framelit from the Lots to Love Box Framelits that cuts out half of the box. Place one piece of Powder Pink Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the half box framelit on top. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Repeat with the other piece of Powder Pink Cardstock.
Pick out one of the framelits from the Lots to Love Box Framelits that is a straight line with a half circle in the middle. Place one of the box halves on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the straight line with half circle framelit on top so the half circle on the framelit is centered side to side on the short flat edge of the box piece and the straight edge of the framelit is even with the flat edge of the box piece. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. This will cut out a little notch so that it is easier to open the flap when your box is assembled and closed
Place the Dapper Denim rectangle into the Seaside Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the card stock inside on top of a Cutting Pad on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Make sure the embossing folder does NOT hang out over the edges of the platform or it will catch the edges of the Big Shot as you crank it through which could damage your folder and Big Shot. Place another Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
Adhere the dry embossed Crushed Curry rectangle to the center bottom of the box piece without the notch cut in it so that it lines up with the straight edge on the bottom and the scores lines on the sides.
Pick out the large heart framelit from the Lots to Love Box Framelits. Place the box half with the Crushed Curry rectangle adhered to the center on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the heart framelit on top so it is about 1/2" from the top and about 3/8" from the right side. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times.
Remove the protective film from the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate rectangle.
Place the box piece with the heart cut out of it upside down on your work surface. Place short pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive as close to the edges of the heart cut out as you can.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and adhere the rectangle of Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate over the heart cut out. Make sure that the SILVER side is facing down so that you'll see the SILVER scallops when you look at the front of the box.
Use the Bone Folder to fold along all score lines on both box pieces.
Put Tear & Tape Adhesive along the inside of both long flaps on the box piece with the heart cut out of it.
With the rounded flap at the top and the heart oriented correctly, remove the protective backing from the one flap and adhere it to the long flap of the other box piece. Make sure the second box piece is oriented so the flat edge with the notch cut out of it is at the top and the rounded flap is at the bottom.
Remove the protective backing from the other long flap on the front of the box and adhere it to the other flap on the back of the box.
If you don't want to have the bottom of the box come open, then place a short strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the top of the bottom rounded flap where it will connect with the inside of the box. Remove the protective backing and tuck the flap in the bottom of the box. Push the Bone Folder into the box and rub on the flap from the inside to help seal the adhesive to the box.
Fill the box with treats and close the top flap.
Tip: If you don't want to give candy, you could include a gift card, jewelry, or small flat toys.
Mount the "hope your day is magical" sentiment from the Magical Day Set on Block D. Ink up ONLY the word "magical" using the brush tip of the Fresh Fig Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it in the center of the Powder Pink strip. Clean the stamp with the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist, but leave it on the block.
Ink up ONLY the words "hope your day is" using the brush tip of the Fresh Fig Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it in the center of the Melon Mambo strip.
Pick out the curved banner framelit from the Magical Mates Framelits. Place the "magical" sentiment strip on a Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the curved banner framelit on top so it is centered over the sentiment. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Place the "hope your day is" sentiment strip on a Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the curved banner framelit on top so it is centered over the sentiment side to side and the words are as close to the top as you can get them. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Trim off the bottom points on both sides of the Melon Mambo "hope your day is" sentiment banner using Paper Snips.
Adhere the "magical" sentiment banner over the bottom of the "hope your day is" sentiment banner so the "hope your day is" just peeks out a the top.
Adhere the sentiment banner to the front of the box so it is centered side to side and just covers the bottom of the heart cut out.
If you haven't already done so, cut out one of the mermaid images from a sheet of Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper using Paper Snips.
Tip: I like to run the brush tip of a corresponding color marker along the edges of cut out images to hide in white edges.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the mermaid cut out to the front of the box so that her tail overlaps the left side of the heart cut out a bit and her bottom is on the top of the sentiment banner.
Carefully remove 2 silver hearts from a sheet of Metallic Enamel Shapes making sure you get the adhesive as well as the shape. Adhere them to the front of the box over the mermaid's head.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Silver 1/8" Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends. Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon to the lower right side of the sentiment banner at a slight angle.
