F un, monogrammed tags for Stampin' Up! tote bags made with Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock to the following sizes for each tag using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- 2" x 4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2" x 4-1/4" from coordinating cardstock (I used Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Night of Navy)
- 2 each of 2" squares from coordinating cardstock (I used Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Soft Sea Foam)
For all tags:
Unlock the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Slide one end of each strip of cardstock into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
For the dotted tag:
Insert the white tag into the Polka Dot Basics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the card stock inside on a Cutting Pad on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
For the floral tag:
Insert the white tag into the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so you will emboss the right half of the big flower on the left half of the tag. Place the folder with the paper inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
For the dotted tag:
Place the dry embossed white tag on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Crushed Curry Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, poke the inky dauber straight up and down over the dots dry embossed on the tag. Also poke the inky dauber randomly around to create more dots. Get more ink on the dauber as needed. Leave the dauber inky for now.
For the floral tag:
Use the Soft Sea Foam Marker to color the raised dry embossed leaves and stems. Use the So Saffron Marker to color the raised dry embossed big flower center and the spiky stem. Use the Calypso Coral Marker to color the raised dry embossed smaller flowers. Use the Night of Navy Marker to color the raised dry embossed large flower outline.
Squeeze the lid of the Night of Navy Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Pick up some ink from the lid using the Blender Pen. Scribble on Grid Paper a bit to lighten the color. Then, color in the centers of the large flower petals. Get more ink on the Blender Pen as needed.
Tip: Stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the cardstock could start to pill and tear. Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen until no more color is coming off.
For the plaid tag:
Place the Buffalo Check background stamp rubber side up on Grid Paper on your work surface . Ink up the stamp by pouncing or rubbing the Night of Navy Ink Pad all over it. Leave the inked up stamp face up on your work surface. Carefully place the white tag on the stamp. Fold the Grid Paper up and over the top of everything and rub firmly all over. Using the Grid Paper protects your hands from getting ink on them.
Tip: I just clean my background stamps by running them under water until the water runs clear. Then, I let them air dry.
For the plaid tag:
As you are ready to stamp using the Tabs For Everything Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the small, solid heart image on Block A. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Stamp it in the open white spaces on the plaid tag. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
For all tags:
Adhere the dry embossed and/or colored/stamped white tags to the corresponding color tag at a slight angle so a bit of the colored tag show below and to the left of the white tag.
Use Pool Party for the dotted tag.
Use Calypso Coral for the plaid tag.
Use Night of Navy for the floral tag.
For all tags:
As you are ready to stamp using the Lined Alphabet Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the first letter of choice from the Lined Alphabet Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Ink Pad of choice and stamp on one of the corresponding 2" squares. Repeat with the second letter of choice from the Lined Alphabet Set on the second corresponding 2" square.
Use Pool Party Ink Pad and Pool Party squares for the dotted tag.
Use Night of Navy Ink Pad and Calypso Coral squares for the plaid tag.
Use Night of Navy Ink Pad and Soft Sea Foam squares for the floral tag.
For all tags:
Pick out the corresponding letter edgelit from the Layering Alphabet Edgelits for the first letter you stamped. Put it on the stamped letter on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Put another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Repeat with the second stamped letter and corresponding letter edgelit.
Tip: Make sure you have the correct letter edgelit. You might want to try cutting a scrap of cardstock first to be sure!
For all tags:
Use Paper Snips to trim off any excess cardstock on each of the letters.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the letters to the center of the tags so the first initial is slightly to the left and higher of the second initial. Let the initials overlap just a bit.
For all tags:
Cut an 8" piece of twine. Fold it in half. Stick the folded end through the hole in the top of the tags from the front side. Pull it through a bit. Poke the open ends of the twine through the fold loop and pull tight. Tie the tag onto the bag.
Use Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine for the dotted tag.
Use Grapefruit Grove Twine from the Nature's Twine for the plaid tag.
Use Night of Navy Medium Baker's Twine for the floral tag.
For the dotted tag:
Cut a 4" piece of Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon. Rub the inky Crushed Curry Sponge Dauber across the top of the ribbon several times. Get more ink on the dauber as needed. Set the ribbon aside to dry.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
For all tags:
Cut a 4" piece of ribbon and tie it to the twine right above the top of the tag using a knot. Trim the ends at angles.
For the dotted tag, use the piece of Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon that you dyed Crushed Curry in the previous step.
For the plaid tag, use Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon.
For the floral tag, use Whisper White 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon.
