U sing a spritzed color block background technique to make the silhouettes pop!
Project Recipe
Cutting:
8 1/2 x 5 1/2 Highland Heather Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4
4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White Cardstock
3 1/2 x 4 Whisper White Cardstock
1 3/4 x 11 strip for pieces
Preparation:
Cut the oval from the 4 x 5 1/2 Whisper White cardstock. Save the oval to use inside the card.
Create the background using Stamping Block technique:
Using the E Block and Stampin Markers apply color to the block as follows:
To the left of center just above mid block, apply So Saffron. Around that add Calypso Coral. To the top right and the bottom left below the Coral, add Balmy Blue. Below that in the left corner fill in with Pacific Point. On the right side and at the left top fill in with Gorgeous Grape. Be careful not to ruin the markers by getting the darker colors on the light markers.
Hold the block at arm's length and using the spritzer, lightly spritz with water - you don't want the colors to run together or to wash off the block!
Stamp onto the 3 x 4 Whisper White Cardstock and let dry.
Apply the same colors to the block starting with the lightest color on a diagonal in the center (daffodil); followed by coral on either side; Balmy Blue and Pacific Point.
Stamp onto the cut out oval and let dry.
Die Cuts and Stamping:
Cut the bird and grass from the strip of Whisper White.
Stamp the saying and cut with the banner die.
Cut the larger banner from Highland Heather scrap.
Stamp Happy Birthday on the inside oval using Gorgeous Grape ink
Stamp the bird on the lower left edge of the envelope in Tuxedo Black.
Assembly:
Using mini glue dots, adhere the bird and the grass at the edge of the oval positioning them to create your silhouette.
Being careful to only apply adhesive at the very edges, adhere the background piece behind the cut out oval.
Adhere the entire piece to the front of the card base.
Adhere the saying to the larger banner and attach to the front of the card using Stampin Dimensionals.
Adhere the inside oval to the card.
