C hristmas card using heat embossing and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, foil sheets, designer paper, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Basic White Thick Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-5/8" x 3-3/8" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" of gold grid design from Regal Distressed Patterns 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 3/4" x 2" from Gold Foil Sheets
- 5/8" x 1-7/8" from Adhesive Sheets
As you are ready to stamp using the Light The Year Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount both the small pine bough images from the Light The Year Set on Block D together at different angles. Ink them up with the Old Olive Ink Pad and stamp them randomly all over the 4" x 5-1/4" Old Olive rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamps each time. Change the orientation of the stamps a bit each time. Let some of the images go off the edges of the cardstock.
Rub the Embossing Buddy included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit all over the stamped Old Olive rectangle.
Mount the "all is bright" sentiment from the Light The Year Set on Block B. Ink it up with the VersaMark Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bottom of the vertical Old Olive rectangle so it is centered side to side and is about 3/8" from the bottom.
Lay the VersaMark stamped rectangle in the center of the Powder Pal included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. Sprinkle on some gold powder from the Metallics Wow! Embossing Powder so it covers the sentiment completely. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool on the highest setting until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use the Crafting Tweezers included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit to hold the cardstock while you are heating it so you don't burn your fingers.
Adhere the stamped and heat embossed Old Olive rectangle to the front of the Basic White Thick card.
Mount one of the small pine bough images from the Light The Year Set by itself on Block B. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it a few times on the top of the vertical 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" Old Olive rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. You are creating a bunch of pine boughs at the top of the rectangle. If desired, fill in empty spaces with the other small pine bough image.
Adhere the stamped Old Olive rectangle to the center of the white rectangle and then to the front of the card so it is centered side to side and between the top of the card and the top of the heat embossed sentiment.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to the white side of the Gold Foil Sheets rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the triangular chain die from the Autumn Expressions Dies. Put it on top of the foil rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the gold foil side is face up and you will cut out one half of the chain triangle. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess chain at the top.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the cut down, detailed chain cut out. Adhere it to the center of the small, stamped Old Olive rectangle so it appears to be hanging down from the bunch of pine boughs.
Unlock the Sweetest Star Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the piece of Regal Distressed Patterns Specialty Designer Paper into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Place the punched out star upside down on a Stampin' Pierce Mat. Use the small end of the stylus from the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and a ruler to score a line between each outer point of the star to the inner point directly opposite it. Make sure the lines only cross in the center.
Fold the star punch out on all score lines to give it some dimension.
Adhere a stack of 3 Stampin' Dimensionals on top of each other in the center of the back of the star punch out. Remove the final protective backing and adhere the star punch out to the front of the card so it is centered over the bottom of the gold chain as shown.
Cut a 9" piece of the gold ribbon from the Gold & Silver 1/8" Trim Combo Pack.
Tie a small bow in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon bow to the front of the card so it is centered over the top of the chain cut out as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large Pecan Pie dot from a sheet of Pecan Pie & Clear Ribboned Adhesive-Backed Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the star punch out.
