C
reate a fun floating sentiment using window sheets! This is a fun design and will work with so many stamp sets.
The design of this card was inspired by Laurie Meier. I modified it a bit for a quicker assembly.
Note: I've listed 3 different colors in the supplies that coordinate with the Designer Series Paper. You will decide which colors you want to work with depending on the DSP pattern you choose.
The sample also shows embellishments that are retired, but the embellishments listed under supplies are what coordinates with this bundle.
Project Recipe
Measurements:
Thick Basic White:
8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score @ 4 1/4"
Basic White for cup die cut:
3 1/2" x 2 1/2"
DSP:
5 1/4" x 4"
Window Sheet:
2 1/4" x 1/2"
Instructions:
Fold and burnish your Thick Basic White cardstock.
Open the card base and lay it flat on your work surface. On the bottom half of the card base (what will be the card front) take the rectangle die that measures 4 1/8" x 2 5/8" and center it. Use a piece of Washi tape to hold the die in place as you run it through your Cut & Emboss machine.
Take the layer that you cut out, place the 2 7/8" x 1 3/8" rectangle die in the center of your rectangle and run it through the Cut & Emboss machine. This small die-cut is what you will use for your sentiment. Set aside the die-cut frame that is left over, you can use it on a future project.
Stamp the cup image on the Basic White 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece. Choose the Blends color that works best with the DSP layer that you are using and color the cup. Die-cut the image using the cup die.
Stamp the splotch stamp around the card front using Pecan Pie ink.
Take the small rectangle and stamp the sentiment using Early Espresso Ink. Stamp the coffee beans on opposite sides of the sentiment.
Adhere your DSP panel to the inside of the card.
Because of the floating sentiment part of this card, there is no place to stamp another sentiment on the inside of the card.
So you will be stamping the sentiment on the back. Take the circle with the heart stamp and using Pecan Pie, stamp off once and then stamp the image on the back of the card. Then stamp the sentiment using Early Espresso Ink.
The Floating Mechanism
Take your piece of window sheet and apply tear tape to each narrow end.
Open your card. Peel off one end of the tear tape and adhere that end of the window sheet so that it is just above the center fold, and positioned center of the rectangle cut out on the front.
Close the card. Take the small rectangle that has the stamped sentiment and dry fit it over the rest of the window sheet strip. You will want the sentiment to be approx. 1/4 below the top edge of the window. Once you are satisfied with where it needs to go, remove the remaining piece of tear tape and adhere the small rectangle.
Determine which side of the card front you want to place your cup die-cut (bottom left or bottom right). Place dimensional on the back of the cup, making sure that they don't extend past the die-cut opening. Otherwise, the card will stick when you try to open it.
Apply embellishments to the card front.
Stamp either the coffee beans or the coffee splotch on the envelope corner.
You are finished!
