Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from Coastal Cabana Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-3/4" x 5" of different markers and colored pencils on white background design from Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square of tiny dots, hearts, moons, stars, etc. on Calypso Coral background design from Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper
- scrap of Crushed Curry Cardstock at least 1" wide
Adhere the large piece of Follow Your Art Designer Paper with the markers and pencils to the front of the Coastal Cabana card at a slight angle.
Mount the set of three markers and colored pencils image from the It Starts With Art Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle so the points of the markers/pencils are pointing down. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again just to the right of the first image. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again just to the left of the first image. The images will go off the sides of the white rectangle some.
Put the stamped white rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring the images with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Calypso Coral Markers to color in some of the markers and marker points.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Markers to color in some other markers and marker points and the top of one of the colored pencils and the pencil point.
Use the Light and Dark Bermuda Bay Markers to color in remaining marker and marker points and the top of the other colored pencil and the pencil point.
Use the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Markers to color in the bases of the markers between the markers and marker points.
Use the Light Smoky Slate Marker to color in the barrel of the colored pencils.
Use the Light Crumb Marker to color in the wood area between the barrel and the pencil point on the colored pencils.
Use one of the Markers to draw a free hand squiggle across the bottom of the white rectangle so it appears to be coming from a marker of the same color on the right side and runs off the left edge.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink.
Adhere the colored markers and colored pencils white rectangle to the front of the card at a slight angle centered over the designer paper.
Pick out the small, scalloped-edge heart die from the Stitched Be Mine Dies the cuts out a heart that is 1" wide. Put it on top of the 1-1/2" square of Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
Adhere the heart cut out to the front of the card so it is at a slight angle and overlaps the upper right corner of the white rectangle. It should overlap the tops of the markers a bit and hang over the right edge of the white rectangle and designer paper rectangle a tiny bit.
Mount the “follow your art” sentiment from the It Starts With Art Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the scrap of Crushed Curry Cardstock.
Unlock the Classic Label Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Get the sentiment centered in the punching area. Punch.
Cut a 5" piece of the Bermuda Bay 1/4" Mini Striped Ribbon.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the sentiment punch out. Remove the protective backing.
Fold the ribbon in half and adhere it to the back of the sentiment punch out in the center at an angle so the loop is on the right side above the sentiment punch out and the loose ends are on the left side below the sentiment punch out.
Adhere the sentiment punch out with ribbon attached to the front of the card so the right end of the sentiment overlaps the center of the small heart cut out and it is just above the tops of the markers and colored pencils.
Trim the ends of the ribbon into sharp angles.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick tool to pick up a Melon Mambo rhinestone from a sheet of Noble Peacock Rhinestones being sure to get adhesive as well. Adhere to the center of the small heart cut out so it overlaps the point on the right end of the sentiment punch out.
