C ute Valentine card using Stampin' Up! products and the Stamparatus to create a mirror image.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Crumb Cake Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/2" from Real Red Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2" x 3-1/2" from Pool Party Cardstock
Carefully remove both magnets from the back of the Stamparatus. Be careful NOT to let them get too close to each other or they will snap together and may break.
Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one hinged plate into the Stamparatus on the right side. Put a piece of Small Grid Paper on top of the base of the Stamparatus.
Place the large white rectangle on the Stamparatus base so the top is against the top edge of the base and the right edge is on the 6" vertical line on the Small Grid Paper. Use magnets to hold the paper in place.
Pick out the otter image from the Hey Love Set. Place it upside down on the left side of the white rectangle so it about 2" from the top edge and about 1/2" from the left edge. Close the plate on the Stamparatus and press firmly so the stamp sticks to the plate. Open the plate.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Memento Ink Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue. Close the plate onto the white cardstock and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Tip: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Remove the stamped cardstock from the Stamparatus.
Place the Silicone Craft Sheet on the Stamparatus base so the top edge hits the top edge of the base of the Stamparatus and the right edge hits the right edge of the base of the Stamparatus.
Re-ink the otter stamp with the Memento Ink Pad. Close the plate onto the Silicone Craft Sheet and press firmly.
Turn the stamped white rectangle upside down. Carefully place it on top of the stamped silicone sheet on the Stamparatus base so that the top of the cardstock is even with the 1/2" horizontal mark on the Small Grid Paper near the top of the base and the right edge of the cardstock is even with the 5-1/4" vertical mark on the Small Grid Paper. Rub firmly over the back of the cardstock. Carefully remove the cardstock from the Stamparatus. You should have two otter images facing each other with one slightly higher than the other.
Place the otter stamped white rectangle on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Markers to color in the otters.
Use the Light and Dark Pool Party Markers to color in the water around the otters.
Use the Dark Real Red Marker to color in the hearts in the thought bubbles.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink.
Adhere the stamped and colored white rectangle to the Real Red rectangle and then to the front of the Crumb Cake card.
Mount the "you otter be my valentine" sentiment from the Hey Love Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Pool Party strip towards one side making sure to leave room to punch out the sentiment.
Unlock the Pretty Label Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Adhere the sentiment punch out to the card front so it is about 1" from the bottom and the right edge almost touches the right edge of the white layer. The punch out should cover part of the otters.
Cut an 8" piece of Real Red 1/8" Solid Ribbon.
Tie a small bow in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the bow to the lower left side of the sentiment punch out at a slight angle.
