Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and vellum pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from So Saffron Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- 2" x 4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 2" x 4" of black and white stripes design from All Together 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, cut so the stripes are horizontal on the horizontal rectangle
- 2" x 4" from Vellum Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Hello Ladybug Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the group of three flowers image from the Hello Ladybug Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad and stamp it down the vertical white rectangle repeatedly so you cover an area about 2" wide that is about 1/2" from the right edge. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Let some of the images go off the top and bottom edge of the cardstock. Change the orientation of the stamp every so often.
Mount the group of three tiny dots image from the Hello Ladybug Set on Block A. Ink it up with the So Saffron Ink Pad and stamp it down the vertical white rectangle repeatedly in some of the empty spaces between the sets of blue flowers. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Let some of the images go off the top and bottom edge of the cardstock. Change the orientation of the stamp every so often.
Pick out the solid, long, skinny, scalloped-edge die from the Peony Dies. Put it horizontally on top of the horizontal 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" Balmy Blue rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the scalloped-edges are pointing down and are about 2" from the top of the cardstock. Run through the machine. KEEP BOTH PIECES!
Adhere the smaller blue rectangle with the spiky scalloped edges to the right side of the stamped white rectangle so the scallops just cover the right edge of the stamped line of blue and yellow flowers and dots. The top and bottom edges should be even.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the larger blue rectangle with the curved scalloped edges and dry embossing on the stamped white rectangle so the scallops just cover the left edge of the stamped strip of blue and yellow flowers and dots.
Mount the smaller sentiment of choice from the Hello Ladybug Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower left corner of the blue rectangle. MAKE SURE THE SENTIMENT WON'T BE CUT WHEN YOU ADHERE THE BLUE RECTANGLE IN PLACE!
Now, adhere the stamped, larger blue rectangle with the curved scalloped edges and dry embossing in place. The top and bottom edges should be even. Make sure the sentiment won't be cut!
Use Paper Snips Scissors to trim excess blue cardstock off on the left and right edges.
Cut a 6" piece of the Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the layered cardstock rectangle so it covers the line created by the die just to the left of the scalloped edge on the larger blue rectangle. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back of the rectangle using strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the white rectangle. Adhere to the front of the So Saffron card.
Unlock the Ladybug Builder Punch. Slide the end of the horizontal So Saffron rectangle into the punch and get it centered in the bug body punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Slide the end of the horizontal striped designer paper rectangle into the punch and get it centered in the bug body punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Slide one end of the horizontal vellum rectangle into the punch and get it centered in the wings punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other end of the horizontal vellum rectangle so you have two sets of vellum wings.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the black and white striped designer paper bug body punch out into a rough circle following the curve between the body and the head.
Place the rough circle cut from the designer paper bug body on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. Use the brush tip of the So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker to color in the white stripes.
Adhere the black and yellow striped designer paper rough circle to the top of the So Saffron bug body punch out over the body portion to create a bee body.
Use Paper Snips to cut one set of vellum wings in half.
Use a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the top corners of the cut in half vellum wings to adhere them to the bee body near the neck so they stick out a bit on each side of the bee body.
Gently squeeze the Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush to get a little ink on the brush tip. Paint the remaining set of vellum wings.
Use a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the top edge of the Wink of Stella vellum wings to adhere them to the bee body near the neck as shown.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the bee to the front of the card as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 small dots from the sheet of Matte Black Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them one over the other in the upper right corner of the card.
