P retty Christmas card using the new Stampin' Blends Markers and other products from Stampin' Up!
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 4" of cars, phone booths, bicycles, lampposts, etc. on white background design from Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper
- 3" square from Crushed Curry Cardstock
- 2-3/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- single house image cut from the row of houses design from Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper
Adhere the piece of Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper to the bottom of the Pool Party rectangle.
Cut a 5" piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the layers so it covers the seam between the designer paper and cardstock. Flip the layer over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the Pool Party layer. Adhere the layer to the front of the Cherry Cobbler card.
Pick out the scalloped circle framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits that cuts out a scalloped circle that is 2-1/2" in diameter. Place the square of Crushed Curry Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the scalloped circle framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Mount the "All hearts come home for Christmas" sentiment on Block B. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Lay the stamp inky side up in front of you. Use the brush tip of the Cherry Cobbler Marker (the regular one, not the Stampin' Blends one) to ink over the word "home" only. Scribble on Grid Paper to remove gray ink from the marker and then go over the word again. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the inks and stamp in the center of the larger Whisper White square.
Pick out the smooth circle framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits that cuts out a circle that is 2-1/8" in diameter. Place the stamped sentiment on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the circle framelit on top so the sentiment is as far to the right as it can go with more space above the sentiment than below. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Adhere the sentiment circle to the center of the scalloped circle.
Put SNAIL on the back of the scalloped circle and adhere the sentiment circles to the card front so the right edge of the circles is about 3/8" in and the circles are tucked under the ribbon on the card front. The ribbon should be right below the sentiment.
If you haven't already done so, roughly cut a single house image out of the Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper with Paper Snips. Leave a small border around the house to make coloring easier. You will trim the house out in more detail later.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock/designer paper that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the house cut out on the work paper and start coloring the house with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the Light Gray for the walls and Dark Gray for architectural trim (steps, walls, etc.). Use Light Daffodil Delight on the window panes and add highlights with the Dark Daffodil Delight. Use the Cherry Cobbler Markers to color in the roof, door, and window frames. Use the light color first and add highlights with the darker color. If needed to blend the colors, go over things again with the lighter color. If you get color where you don't want it, you can use the Color Lifter Marker to remove the color. Don't worry if you get outside the lines of the house itself though, you'll be cutting it out.
Use Paper Snips to trim the house out.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the house cut out to the front of the card so the bottom overlaps the ribbon and the right side of the house overlaps the sentiment circles a bit.
Place the smaller square of Whisper White on work paper to protect your work surface.
Scribble with the Light Cherry Cobbler Marker at an angle across the bottom of the smaller white square. Then, scribble across the top at an angle with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Marker. Go over the center again with the Light Cherry Cobbler Marker to blend the colors.
Pick out the small, straight-sided heart framelit from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits that cuts out a straight-sided heart that is 7/8" wide. Place the colored square of cardstock on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the heart framelit on top so it cuts out a heart with the color gradations running at an angle across the heart. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Use the Color Lifter Marker to pick up some of the color in the left lobe of the heart.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the heart at a slight angle in the upper right side of the sentiment circles.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon. Tie it to the ribbon on the front of the card using a half knot. Center the knot under the sentiment. Trim the ends.
