F un Halloween card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5" of black, orange, purple, and yellow plaid design from Plaid Tidings 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
Pick out the set of three connected tags die from the Peek-A-Hoot Dies. Put it on top of the designer paper rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so that the horizontal tag is on the bottom and is centered side to side and is about 1/2" from the bottom edge. Run through the tool. You are using the large rectangle with the tags cut out of the center for this project. Keep the tag cut outs to use on other projects.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the designer paper with the tags cut out of the center on top of the white rectangle so you can only see white showing through the tag cut outs.
Lay the following stamps from the Have A Hoot Set on the cardstock/designer paper layer so the stamping side is facing down and each stamp is centered over its area as outlined:
- owl sitting on branch looking at hanging spider should be in the vertical tag space on the upper left side
- "Boo!" sentiment should be in the small square space on the upper right side and should be slightly angled
- vampire owl sitting on a branch in front of a crescent moon should be in the horizontal space at the bottom
Once the stamps are in position, press Block E to the tops of the stamps to adhere them to the block.
Remove the designer paper from on top of the white rectangle and set aside for now.
Ink up the stamps on Block E using the Memento Pad. Stamp them in the center of the white rectangle.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the stamped white rectangle on the work paper and color with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Dark and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the owls' bodies and wings.
Use the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the owls' eyes.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the vampire owl's cape.
Use the Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the branches.
Use the Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends to color in the crescent moon, the hanging spider, and the owls' talons.
Scribble on the white spaces around the images using the Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends and the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends. Then, use the Light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to blend the colors together and fill in all the white spaces around the images. Occasionally place the designer paper with the tags cut out of it on top of the images to make sure you have colored in all the white areas that will show through the tag cut outs.
When happy with the coloring, adhere the designer paper with the tags cut out of the center to the top of the colored white rectangle so the images are centered in each of the tag cut out areas. If needed, trim off excess white cardstock that shows around the edges of the designer paper.
Adhere the layered designer paper/colored white rectangle to the center of the Basic Black rectangle and then to the front of the Pumpkin Pie card.
