I used the faux leather technique on this card with a slight difference. I didn't want the faux leather to look shiny so I created a different effect.
Project Recipe
Begin with 8-1/2" x 11" Night of Navy cardstock scored at 4-1/4" and folded to create card base.
Add a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Old Olive to the card base.
Using a 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of cardstock cover it with small pieces of masking tape. Don't leave any area uncovered. Once covered trim the excess off the edges with scissors.
(Hint: if you use a slightly larger piece of cardstock, when you finish coving it with masking tape, you can cut the size down to the 5-1/4" x 4" quicker than trimming it with scissors.)
Cover the entire area with Early Espresso ink using brushes. I used make-up brushes, because my SU Blending Brushes were on backorder.
Go back over the entire area with Soft Suede to lighten it up. This makes the Early Espresso stand out more along the edges of the tape making it look more like leather.
Cover the entire area with Gold Embossing Powder and brush most of it away with a brush allowing it to remain along the veining and lightly in other areas of the cardstock. Set with a Heat Tool. No need to use Versamark or Heat &Stick Powder. The powder will stick without it.
Cut the faux leather into threes with varying lengths and widths. Two of mine measure 3-1/4" x 1-1/4" and the middle is 3-1/2" x 1-1/4".
Stagger them and adhere to the Old Olive cardstock with Liquid Glue.
Stamp the greeting onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and emboss with gold embossing powder.
Punch it out using the Everyday Label Punch.
Stamp the tie using the Handsomely Suited tie stamp with Night of Navy Ink and cut it out using the coordinating die.
Adhere it to the front of the card using Dimensionals.
Adhere the label to the front of the card and embellish it with Gilded Gems.
