T
his was a super fun card to create!
The die is a bit tricky to get all the pieces out but cuts beautifully. Plus I had some fun with Distress Oxide Inks!!!
Project Recipe
Paper:
Grey 4 1/4 x 11
White 4 1/4 x 4 1/2
Scraps - Black, Silver, Purple, 2 different yellows
1. After cutting your grey cardstock - score at 1.5 and 6.25.
2. With your Big Shot and the Graveyard Gate dies, centered at the very bottom of the card in a V, use the outline die to cut the outline of the gate.
3. Next cut out a gate from the black. You can also cut the lock and key from silver at the same time.
4. Once you have all the small pieces out of the gate, it's time to glue. Using Liquid Glue and a sponge, put some on a large stamping block or piece of plastic and sponge it on the back of the gate. glue it to the back side of the grey matching the outline of the die cut V from before.
5. I wiped it gently with a baby wide to catch any excess glue and then set a large stamp block for several minutes.
6. Inside piece: you will need a piece of scrap paper to color on larger than your piece of Whisper White.
7. I took another scrap piece of paper and made a mask by hand of a hill for inking my brown.
Using the Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink and a blender, make 2 layers of hills about 1.5" from bottom.
8. Using Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink with a blender, ink your sky.First with Seedless Preserves and then Faded Jeans to darken it. I made the card darker at the top and then went lighter towards the brown hills.
9. Splatter it with water and dry with heat tool
10. Using Basic Grey ink and the tombstone stamps from the Graveyard Gate set, stamp several of of the tombstones on the hill.
11. Next punch a 2" circle or die cut with the 2" circle die from a pale yellow scrap. Glue to the top left corner of the card and trim to fit the corner.
12. Next stamp the bat with the Basic Black in the night sky and over the moon.
13. On the 1.5" flap on the same side as the gate stamp a few bats and a raven in Basic Black.
14. Using a sponge and Basic Black, add some to the gate and flap to make it look old.
15. Trim the flaps of the gate even with the card sides. Snip the lock top in half and slide under the edges of the center of the gate. Secure with a glue dot.
15. Let's make the sentiment for the front. Using the second to last Lots Of Label Framelits or the Everyday label punch (retired), cut out a silver label.
15. Stamp Open If You Dare stamp in Basic Black on purple scrap and square up. Glue with snail on silver label. Using Liquid Glue, glue the key to the bottom right of the label. Secure the sentiment to the upper left section of the gate.
16. Now for the inside sentiment. On a small strip of darker yellow scrap, stamp the Have A Haunted Halloween in Basic Black. Trim close to the stamped image leaving 1/2" extra paper in front of the Haunted, and 1/4" after the Halloween. Make a banner tale on the Halloween end. Glue in place on the inside of the card with snail close to the bottom.
5. Using Black Glaze pen from your stash, darken the bats and add RIP to a couple of the tombstones on the inside and on the top flap of the outside.
6. Place a small bit of snail on the top inside of the gate to hold the card closed.
WHEW!!!! Wasn't that fun to make!!!
