his card is pretty simple to make and so pretty in person! The photos don't do it justice! Not an original idea. (I found a photo on pinterest that inspired me, but I put my own take on it and was very pleased with the results...I hope you'll like it, too!
Project Recipe
cut metallic foil paper (I used Grapefruit Grove metallic 12" x12" foil paper but any metallic paper would work just as well) Cut a piece to 4.25x 5.5 then run it through the Big Shot with the Country Floral embossing folder (this dynamic textured folder which was introduced in the 2nd release item for March of SaleABration 2019 and is it ever a beauty! I'm hoping to see it return in the next catalogue!
--Once the metallic cardstock has been embossed trim it to 4" x 5 .25" ( since the embossing shortens one side of the piece due to the deepness of the impression during embossing, I waited until after it was embossed to make the final cut...yes, I am just that anal sometimes!)
Now for the fun part...put the metallic foil paper shiny side up on your work surface, use a permanent black ink pad and lightly tap/swipe the ink across the embosssed surface. You want to apply the ink to on the raised parts then Allow it to dry thoroughly before handling. You just want to catch the high points of the embossed foil paper and leave the flat portion of the foil uninked. It's beautiful with any metallic foil (silver,gold,bronze,pink..whatever you prefer).
Wrap a length of black satin ribbon around the front the metallic cardstock piece near the bottom edge, tie a pretty knot then snip of both ends on the diagonal.
Now adhere the finished foil sheet to front of black card base. Use strong adhesive so the foil doesn't warp or curl.
stamp desired greeting on Very Vanilla cardstock 4" x 5.25" and adhere it inside card base.
use black ink and scrap of Very Vanilla to stamp desired sentiment for the front of the card. punch it out with Storybook Label punch (see previous photo of card front).
to get the double matted look for the sentiment on the front punch out 2 black pieces with the same Storybook punch and layer both black punchies behind the sentiment so the edges show evenly all around the front giving a double matted appearance.
Attach the matted sentiment to card front with dimensionals.
I neglected to take a photo of this step but no card is complete until you decorate the envelope so be sure to run the flap of the envy thru the embossing folder. ta da!! now we're done! I hope you enjoyed this project! ;-)
thanks for checking out my card...I was inspired to try inking the metallic embossed foil by a card shared on pinterest so I changed up a few things to suit my project, wish I could remember who shared this great idea but it wasn't me. I was just happy to play around with it and hope that you will too!
