H andmade Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Garden Green Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from scrap cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from copy paper
- 1" x 4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3/4" x 3" of gold starbursts on vanilla background design from Season Of Green & Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
As you are ready to stamp using the Golden Greenery Set or the Happy Little Things Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the more solid, large pine boughs image from the Golden Greenery Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it 4 times on the horizontal, 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" vanilla rectangle so the image is in all four quadrants. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Leave the stamp on the block.
Place the copy paper on top of the stamped vanilla rectangle so it covers the bottom half of the rectangle. Re-ink the pine boughs image with the Old Olive Ink Pad and stamp it between the two images along the top of the rectangle so the long pine bough in the center of the image fills in the empty space. Repeat on the other long edge and on the two side edges. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time and move the copy paper mask around as needed.
Mount the more detailed, large pine boughs image from the Golden Greenery Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Garden Green Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of all the previously stamped more solid pine bough images. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time and use the copy paper mask as needed.
Pick out the large, open 3-branched pine bough die from the Golden Greenery Dies. Put it on top of the large scrap of cardstock on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is in the center of the rectangle. Run through the machine.
Note: Recycle the pine bough cut out from the center of the rectangle. You are only using the large rectangle with the cut out in the center on this project as a mask/stencil.
Lay the mask/stencil with the pine boughs cut out of the center over the stamped vanilla rectangle so the stencil is centered over one of the stamped pine boughs.
Rub a Small Blending Brush across the open Old Olive Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub off some of the excess ink on Grid Paper. Very lightly rub the inky brush over the opening in the mask/stencil adding color and fullness to the stamped pine bough on the vanilla rectangle. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Continue adding color/fullness to each stamped pine bough using the mask/stencil and inky blending brush. Just move the mask/stencil as needed each time.
Adhere the stamped and stenciled vanilla rectangle to the center of the Old Olive rectangle and then to the front of the Garden Green card.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the vanilla strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Repeat on the other end. Leave the punch unlocked.
Mount the solid block letter "celebrate" sentiment from the Happy Little Things Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched vanilla strip.
Mount the open block letter "celebrate" sentiment from the Happy Little Things Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Garden Green Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped solid letters word so it outlines the letters.
Gently rub the Old Olive inked Small Blending Brush along the edges of the stamped and punched sentiment strip.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Slide one short edge of the designer papr strip into the right side of the unlocked Happy Labels Pick A Punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Repeat on the other end.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the punched designer paper strip in half.
Adhere the pieces of punched designer paper to the back of the stamped, sponged, and punched sentiment strip so about 1/2" of designer paper sticks out to either side as shown.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the layered sentiment strip to the front of the card as shown slightly above center.
Cut a 5" piece of the Very Vanilla 3/4" Satin Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon and trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card as shown.
