C hristmas card using black magic technique and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Balmy Blue Cardstock at 5-1/2" 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of one of the patterns of purple and dark blue snowflakes on light blue background design from Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper
- 1/2" x 5-1/8" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
- 3/4" x 3-1/4" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
Adhere the piece of Snowflake Splendor Designer Paper to the large rectangle of Night Of Navy.
Adhere the skinny strip of Night Of Navy across the top of the horizontal matted designer paper so the top of the strip is about 1" from the top of the matted designer paper.
Cut a 6" piece of the Snowflake Splendor 1/4" Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the center of the Night Of Navy strip on the matted designer paper/cardstock layers. Flip the rectangle over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Night Of Navy rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Balmy Blue card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Gift Wrapped Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the large bow with lots of stripes image from the Gift Wrapped Set on Block D. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad or Whisper White Craft Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the remaining horizontal Night Of Navy strip. Leave room to punch out the image in a later step.
Lay the stamped strip on top of some Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder so it covers the stamped image. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the cardstock while using the Heat Tool to avoid burning your fingers.
Allow the image to cool for a few minutes. Once cooled, use the Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry pencils from the Watercolor Pencils or the Balmy Blue and Gorgeous Grape pencils from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 to color directly onto the white embossed lines. Keep adding color until you are happy with the look.
Tip: If desired, you can lightly rub a clean tissue or paper towel over the colored bow when you are done coloring to remove any excess bits of watercolor pencil.
Unlock the Gift Bow Builder Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped, heat embossed, and colored bow into the punch and get it centered in the bow punching area. Punch.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the bow punch out to the front of the card on the left side at a slight angle so it is centered over the ribbon.
Unlock the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the Balmy Blue strip into the left side of the punch (the side of the punch with the rounder label top) as far as it will go. Punch.
Adhere the "A very merry Christmas" sentiment from the Gift Wrapped Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Pacific Point Ink Pad. Stamp the sentiment on the sentiment banner so the punched end of the banner is on the left side and the left edge of the sentiment is about 7/8" from the punched end of the banner. Use Paper Snips or the Paper Trimmer to trim off excess cardstock on the right end of the stamped sentiment banner if needed.
Adhere the sentiment banner to the front of the card at a slight angle so the punched end of the banner is tucked under the center of the bow punch out.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a large Night Of Navy gem from a sheet of Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the bow.
