P retty pocket card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, specialty paper, and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Seaside Spray Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 2" and 5-1/2"
- 3-1/2" x 5-1/4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" of watercolor wash fading from blue to pink to yellow design from Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/2" square from Pearlescent Specialty Paper
- 2" square from Pearlescent Specialty Paper
- 2" square from Blushing Bride Cardstock
Use a Bone Folder to fold the Seaside Spray Cardstock on all score lines.
Pick out the long, curving, filigree edge die from the Curvy Dies. Put it on top of the short edge of the 2" flap of the Seaside Spray card on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the cutting edge is as close as possible to the short edge of the cardstock. Make sure the ends of the die are completely on the platform so they don't catch on the sides of the machine as you crank the sandwich through. Run through the machine until you've gotten the die through then run back the other direction. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove all the little bits. Leave the die out.
Tip: Only run the sandwich through the machine until you've gotten the die through then go back the other way so that you don't accidentally crease the other end of the card.
Fold the card back up to make the pocket with the cut flap hanging down. Do NOT adhere yet.
Adhere the piece of Sand & Sea Designer Paper to the bottom of the 3-1/2" front of the card. Make sure the bottom, left, and right edges are all even with the cardstock. Don't worry if the designer paper doesn't reach all the way to the top as that will be hidden by the die cut flap.
Put Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the die cut flap and adhere it in place over the top of the designer paper.
Put two strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the side edges of the 3-1/2" bottom pocket flap on the back side (the side without the designer paper). Make sure the adhesive is as close as possible to the side edges. Remove the protective backings and adhere the bottom pocket flap to the back of the card. You should now have a pocket card.
Place the long, curving, filigree edge die from the Curvy Dies on top of one short edge of the So Saffron rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the cutting edge is as close as possible to the short edge of the cardstock. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove all the little bits.
As you are ready to stamp using the Friends Are Like Seashells Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Friends Are Like Seashells Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Flirty Flamingo Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the die cut So Saffron rectangle so the die cut edge of the cardstock is at the top. Make sure you stamp the sentiment far enough down that it will be hidden when the cardstock is pushed into the pocket.
Carefully slide the stamped, die cut So Saffron rectangle into the pocket.
Tip: You may need to slide your fingers into the pocket to gently pull up to loosen it so you can slide the cardstock insert in more easily.
Mount the large, curling shell image from the Friends Are Like Seashells Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Flirty Flamingo or Blushing Bride Ink Pad (depending on how dark you want the image to be). Stamp it in the center of the large Pearlescent Specialty Paper square. Allow to dry for a few minutes.
Pick out the large, detailed shells and seaweed die from the Seaside Seashells Dies. Put it on top of the stamped shell image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the shell image is centered in the corresponding area of the die. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Use Paper Snips as needed to cut the shell image loose from the rest of the die cut. You can leave a few of the seaweed bits on the sides if you wish, you just might need to trim them down some too.
Adhere the shell cut out to the front of the pocket card so it is centered over the top, die cut flap of the pocket. Make sure that NO adhesive is above the top of the pocket or your insert won't slide in and out.
Mount the sand dollar image from the Friends Are Like Seashells Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp it in the the center of the small Pearlescent Specialty Paper square. Allow to dry for a few minutes.
Pick out the mostly round, sand dollar die from the Seaside Seashells Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sand dollar on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sand dollar cut out to the front of the card so it is on the right side of the large shell cut out and centered over the top, die cut flap of the pocket. Make sure that NO adhesive is above the top of the pocket or your insert won't slide in and out.
Mount the sea star (starfish) image from the Friends Are Like Seashells Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Flirty Flamingo Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Blushing Bride square.
Pick out the matching sea star (starfish) die from the Seaside Seashells Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sea star on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Remove a Seaside Spray scallop shell sticker, a Flirty Flamingo conch shell sticker, and a So Saffron sea star (starfish) sticker from sheets of Seaside Shells. Adhere them and the pink sea star cut out to the front of the card along the bottom of the large shell cut out as shown so they hide the bottom of the top, die cut flap.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Seaside Spray 1/4" Metallic Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at a slight angle near the bottom of the sand dollar and the top of the pink sea star cut out.
