Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pool Party Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 11" and scored at 1-1/4" and 3-3/8" at each end
- 2 pieces each 1-7/8 x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 1-3/4" x 5-1/8" of small bunches of white flowers and leaves on light blue background design from Friendly Hello 12" x 12" Design Series Paper
- 2 pieces each 1" x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 7/8" x 5-1/8" of bird on flowering branch and flowers on blue background design from Friendly Hello 12" x 12" Design Series Paper
- 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 10-1/2" from Pool Party Cardstock
Fold the card base so the interior score lines fold into a valley fold and the outer score lines fold into a mountain fold. This should give you two thin panels in the center of the card when the card is folded shut.
Adhere the designer paper rectangles to the slightly larger Basic Black rectangles to mat them.
Adhere the larger, matted designer paper rectangles to the large panels on the front of the closed card.
Adhere the smaller, matted designer paper rectangles to the thin panels on the front of the folded card.
Wrap the thin strip of Pool Party cardstock around the center of the closed card, creasing the strip as you wrap it around the card. Don't wrap the belly band too tightly. Make sure the loose ends meet in the center of the front of the card.
Use small pieces of Tear & Tape to adhere the loose ends of the belly band strip together.
As you are ready to stamp using the Friendly Hello Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the bird on a flowering branch image from the Friendly Hello Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the top of the large, vertical white rectangle so it is centered side to side and is about 1" from the top. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the bird on a flowering branch image on Block D with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the top of a Post-It Note so the bird is stamped along the edge of the Post-It Note where the adhesive will be on the back. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the bird on a flowering branch image on Block D with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the top of a different Post-It Note so the flowers are stamped along the edge of the Post-It Note where the adhesive will be on the back.
Pick out the scalloped, stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 3" x 4-1/8" from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Put it on top of the stamped bird on a flowering branch white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered side to side and the top of the image is about 3/4" from the top of the die. Run through the machine.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Friendly Hello Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bottom of the scalloped rectangle cut out so it is centered side to side and is centered between the bottom of the bird on a flowering branch image and the bottom of the scalloped rectangle.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the bird and flower images on the Post-It Notes. Cut just inside the outer lines.
Adhere the Post-It Note bird and flowers cut outs over the corresponding images stamped on the scalloped rectangle cut out. It's okay if they don't line up perfectly.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Pool Party Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush over the stamped and masked image on the top of the scalloped rectangle cut out in a rough circle. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Make sure you have a piece of Grid Paper under the scalloped rectangle cut out to protect your work surface.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Remove the Post-It Note masks from the bird and flowers.
Place the colored scalloped rectangle cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark and Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends to color in the bird's tail and wing feathers.
Cut a 4-1/4" piece of the Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon so it has a sharp angle on each end.
Adhere the piece of ribbon to the front of the belly band using small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive vertically across the center of the ribbon. Make sure none of the Tear & Tape goes past the 1" mark on either side of the belly band.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and adhere the stamped and colored, scalloped rectangle cut out to the belly band so it is centered over the card front.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a large dot from the sheet of Matte Black Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the upper left corner of the scalloped rectangle cut out.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up two large dots from the sheet of Matte Black Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the centers of the flowers.
