C ute birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Mint Macaron Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 3-1/4" x 3-7/8" of small diagonal light green plaid design from Country Gingham 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 1" x 4-1/4" from Mint Macaron Cardstock
- 2-1/8" x 4-1/4" from Mint Macaron Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" from Basic White Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Friendly Gnomes Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top to protect the Mat from ink.
Mount the plant with flowers image from the Friendly Gnomes Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it across the bottom of the vertical 4" x 5-1/4" white rectangle so the flowers on the left and right edges are about 1" tall and the three in the center are about 5/8" tall. Let the bottoms go off the bottom edge of the cardstock.
Place the stamped white rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends to color in the leaves and outline the stems on the plants.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in some of the flower petals. Leave some uncolored.
Use the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend to color in the centers of the flowers left uncolored.
Use the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blend to color in the centers of the yellow flowers.
Pick out the long, skinny leaf vine die from the Eden Dies. Put it on top of the long skinny strip of Mint Macaron on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the tips of the leaves and berries almost touch one long edge of the strip. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Adhere the leaf vine cut out to the back of one 3-7/8" edge of the Country Gingham Designer Paper piece so the leaves and berries show along the bottom. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess cardstock on the right and left sides as needed.
Adhere the designer paper with leaf vine cut out attached to the stamped and colored vertical white rectangle so a tiny amount of white shows along the top, left, and right edges.
Cut a 5" piece of the Balmy Blue & White 1/2" Variegated Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Use the brush tips of the Light and Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends to color the ribbon green in variegated stripes that mimic the blue and white stripes on the ribbon. Allow ribbon to dry for a minute or two.
Lay the ribbon across the matted designer paper/cardstock rectangle so it covers the seam between the designer paper and leaf vine cut out. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ends of the ribbon in place with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of white rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Mint Macaron card.
Mount the birthday sentiment from the Friendly Gnomes Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the bottom of the vertical 2-1/8" x 4-1/4" Mint Macaron rectangle so it is close to the bottom edge.
Adhere the stamped Mint Macaron rectangle to the front of the card so it is centered side to side and the bottom is just above the tops of the flowers stamped along the bottom edge of the white layer.
Mount the female gnome with braids image from the Friendly Gnomes Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Basic White rectangle.
Pick out the matching gnome die from the Gnomes Dies. Put it on top of the stamped gnome image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Tip: It is often better to cut images out with dies before spending all the time to color them in. That way if the dies slip during the cutting process, you haven't wasted a lot of time on the coloring.
Place the gnome cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the gnome's hat, shirt sleeves, collar, and bit of shirt between collar and apron.
Use the Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends to color in the gnome's apron.
Use the Medium Light Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the gnome's hands, face, and bit of foot showing in top of shoes. Remember the lower the number of the Marker the darker the tone.
Use the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends to color in the soles and buttons of the gnome's shoes.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the gnome's shoes.
Use the Medium and Medium Deep Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color the gnome's braids.
Use the Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends to color the white outline around the gnome.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored gnome cut out to the front of the card so it is centered on the Mint Macaron rectangle above the sentiment.
Carefully pick out three different sizes of white and two different sizes of yellow little flower and leaf embellishments from the Loose Daisy Embellishments.
Put two tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen over the flower on the gnome's hat. Adhere two of the white Loose Daisy Embellishments to the dots of liquid glue.
Put two tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the designer paper on the upper left side of the Mint Macaron rectangle and one tiny dot on the designer paper on the lower right side of the Mint Macaron rectangle. Adhere the Loose Daisy Embellishments to the dots of liquid glue as shown.
Cut a 4" piece of the Balmy Blue & White 1/2" Variegated Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the colored ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card so it is straight up and down and centered over the ribbon just to the left of the Mint Macaron rectangle.
