T his tri-fold card is fun to make and even more fun to receive! It’s easier to create than it looks, and if use switch up the S-I-P (stamps, ink, and paper) you can achieve a huge variety of different looks!
Cut and score the card stock.
Cut the ribbon. Die-cut the embellishment.
Cut card stock for card base at 5 1/2 x 11. Score vertically at 3, 5 1/2, 8, and 9 1/2 inches. Use the bone folder to press the mountains and valleys as shown.
Cut three light card stock panels:
In this card, I used Thin Whisper White. I cut three layers - 3/4 x 5 1/4, 1 1/4 x 5 1/4, and 2 3/4 x 5 1/4.
Cut two layers of matching dsp:
In this card, I used Follow Your Art dsp. I cut two panels - 1/2 x 5 1/4, and 1 1/2 x 5 1/4. (Feel free to ask me for my tip about getting the perfect 1/2 inch cut!)
Cut one piece of ribbon: 21 inches (There will be extra)
Die-cut the front embellishment. In this card, I used the small heart from the Stitched Be Mine die-cuts.
Stamp the light layers:
Stamp a long, thin image on the front panel.
Stamp small shapes on the middle panel.
Stamp your phrase on the back panel, noting that the phrase won’t go in the exact center because a thin strip of dsp will be adhered to the right.
Stamp your envelope as desired.
Adhere the layers:
Use glue or snail to adhere the front panel.
Use glue or snail to adhere the middle light card stock layer. Line up and adhere the dsp carefully next to the stamped card stock.
Use glue or snail to adhere the back card stock layer. Line up and adhere the dsp carefully next to the stamped card stock.
Line up the ribbon, ensuring that there is enough of a tail on the right side of the card to tie a nice bow. I chose the thinner Bermuda ribbon for this card, but I did contemplate using the wider (and very beautiful) Petal Pink ribbon.
Affix the ribbon to the middle of the front panel with a mini-glue dot.
Adhere the die cut on top of the ribbon, raising it up with a dimensional. I added an extra dot of glue to the dimensional for extra protection.
Fold your card, tie your ribbon, and voila - your tri-fold card is complete.
