H ave excess DSP? Do you want an easy way to use it? Here's a gift bag that is easy to make and because you use designer series paper from Stampin' Up! it's beautiful as well! All the credit for this project goes to Debbie Henderson. Here's my slightly different version.
Project Recipe
Score both pieces of the DSP at 3" on 3 sides and 2" on one side. If the DSP is directional, make sure that is matched accordingly.
Fold and burnish the 2" border on each piece of DSP to the side that will become the outside of the bag. Fold and burnish the other 3 sides to the inside.
Adhere the border to the outside of the bag with your favorite adhesive.
Designate one of the pieces of DSP as Sheet 1. Cut tabs with a slight notch at the bottom.
On Sheet 2, remove the squares on both ends of the DSP.
Turn Sheet 2 to the inside. Glue a piece of thin cardboard measuring 5 7/8" X 2 7/8" to the flap at the bottom. The cardboard that comes with the DSP works great for this.
Place Sheet 1 with the outside of the bag up. Add adhesive to the cardboard and adhere Sheet 2 to Sheet 1.
Line up the score lines on Sheets 1 and 2 and secure the bottom flap of Sheet 2 to Sheet 1.
Add adhesive to the tabs. Bring up 1 side of the bag and match the score lines. Do the same with the other side.
Add Tear & Tape or your favorite adhesive to the remaining sides; match the score lines and adhere.
Measure in 1" from each side and the top of both sides and punch a small hole.
Cut two handles from ribbon, cord, string, etc. 16".
Feed the ribbon through the holes and secure with knots.
You have just made a gift bag!
