Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, foil sheets, and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 2 pieces each 5" x 5-3/4" from matching patterns of Best Dressed 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 1-1/4" x 6-1/4" from coordinating color of cardstock (I used Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Old Olive, Purple Posy, and Lovely Lipstick)
- 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" from coordinating color of cardstock (I used Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Old Olive, and Purple Posy)
- 2 pieces each 3/4" x 1-1/2" from Gold Foil Sheets - if you want buckles
- 3/4" x 3" from coordinating color of cardstock (I used Petal Pink) - if you want buttons
- 3/4" square from coordinating color of cardstock (I used Lovely Lipstick) - if you want buttons
- 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
Pick out the half purse die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of one of the pieces of Best Dressed Designer Paper on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool. Repeat with the other piece of designer paper.
Tip: If you choose a pattern of paper that has a definite direction to the pattern, make sure both pieces are cut so the pattern is in the same direction.
Fold on all the score lines using the Bone Folder.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the top of the thin flap along the side of the gusseted side of the purse part of one half of the purse cut out. Remove the protective backing. Adhere the other half of the purse cut out to it so one long side of the solid purse front is attached. Make sure the bottom of the purse flaps are on the bottom.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the top of the thin flap along the side of the loose gusseted side of the purse part. Remove the protective backing. Adhere the other end of the purse cut out to it to form the front, back, and sides of the purse.
Put some strips of Tear & Tape on the under side of one of the large bottom flaps. Remove the protective backings and adhere the flap to the other bottom flap. Make sure the small side bottom flaps are tucked up inside the bag.
Tip: You can put the broad end of the Bone Folder down into the bag with the bag standing up on the work surface and rub hard against the bottom to make sure the adhesive sticks good and tight.
Pick out the the long, thin strap die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of one side of the 1-1/4" x 6-1/4" piece of cardstock on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool. Repeat on the other side of the cardstock so you have two straps.
If you want buckles, pick out both of the short, thin dies with 4 rectangles and 2 slits in them from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put them on top of the Gold Foil Sheets pieces on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the tool. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
If you don't want buckles, skip this step.
Thread the buckles onto both ends of both strap dies so the bars across the center of the buckles is on the back side of the straps.
If you are not using buckles, skip this step.
As you are ready to stamp using the Dressed To Impress Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "hello fabulous" or "kindness is always in style" sentiment from the Dressed To Impress Set on Block B. Ink it up with a coordinating color of Ink Pad (I used Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Highland Heather, and Lovely Lipstick). Stamp it in the center of the 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" coordinating color of cardstock (I used Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Old Olive, and Purple Posy).
If you are making multiple bags and using different colors of ink, then remember to clean your stamp between ink colors using a Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub.
Pick out the the rectangle with a bump on top pocket die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of the stamped cardstock on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered. Run through the tool.
Tear a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive about 1-1/2" long from the roll. Use a pair of scissors to cut the Tear & Tape strip in half long ways. Cut one long, thin, cut strip of Tear & Tape in half so you have two little half pieces about 3/4" long each and one long, thin piece about 1-1/2" long.
Put the long, thin, cut strip of Tear & Tape along the back of the bottom edge of the pocket cut out. Put the two little half pieces about 3/4" long along the back of the sides of the pocket cut out.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape strips and adhere the pocket to the front of the bag in the center.
Use a small piece of Tear & Tape on the back of each end of both strap cut outs to adhere the straps in place to the front and back of the bag as shown.
If you want buttons, pick out both of the larger button dies with 4 holes in them from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put them on top of the 3/4" x 3" coordinating cardstock (I used Petal Pink) on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the tool. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Repeat until you have 4 buttons cut out.
If you don't want buttons, skip this step.
Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere the button cut outs to the ends of the straps on both sides of the bag.
If you aren't using buttons, skip this step.
If you want buttons, pick out one of the small button dies with 2 holes in it from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of the 3/4" square of coordinating cardstock (I used Lovely Lipstick) on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
If you don't want buttons, skip this step.
Cut a 6" piece of Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine. Thread it through the holes in the small button cut out and tie in place using a small bow. Trim the ends.
If you aren't using buttons, skip this step.
Tip: Use a floss or needle threader to help thread the twine through the holes in the button.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the small button cut out with twine tied on to the bottom left corner of the pocket cut out on the front of the bag.
If you aren't using buttons, skip this step.
If you want to change the color of a white Best Dressed Tassel, then place a white tassel on a piece of Grid Paper to protect your work surface. Then, use the Light and Dark Stampin' Blends of your choice (I used Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin' Blends) to color the ends only or the entire tassel in an ombre effect.
If you don't want to change the color of a tassel, then skip this step.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the tassel of your choice from the Best Dressed Tassels to the front of the bag either so it appears to hang from one of the straps on the front of the bag or appears to hang from the upper right corner of the pocket on the front of the bag.
Tip: In some cases, you may want to adhere the tassel in place before adhering an embellishment that will cover the top loop of the tassel. In other cases, the top loop of the tassel will still show.
If you are using embellishments (I used Frosted Flower Embellishments, Designer Elements, and 2019-2020 In Color Faceted Dots), use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up the embellishments from their protective sheets making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the bag so there is an embellishment on the end of each strap on both sides and if needed, one on the upper corner of one side of the pocket cut out on the front of the bag.
If you aren't using embellishments, skip this step.
Tip: You can use an embellishment to cover the top of the tassel where the loop is if desired.
If you want to use ribbon to cover the loop at the top of a tassel, then cut a 3-1/2" to 4" piece of a coordinating ribbon (I used Daffodil Delight 1/4" Ruched Ribbon). Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends. Adhere the ribbon knot to the top of the tassel over the loop using a Mini Glue Dot.
If you are not using ribbon, skip this step.
If you want to use a stamped, heat embossed, and colored flower image to cover the top of the tassel where the loop is, then mount the large, single flower with leaves image from the Dressed To Impress Set on Block B. Rub the Embossing Buddy over the piece of white cardstock. Ink up the flower image with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white cardstock.
If you don't want a flower image, then skip this step.
Place the stamped white cardstock in the center of a piece of Grid Paper. Sprinkle on White Stampin’ Emboss Powder so it covers the entire image. Tap off excess powder. Return extra powder to the container.
If you don't want a flower image, then skip this step.
Heat with the Heat Tool until the powder is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
If you don't want a flower image, then skip this step.
Pick out the matching single flower with leaves die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of the heat embossed flower image on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the image is centered. Run through the tool.
If you don't want a flower image, then skip this step.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the designer paper that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the heat embossed flower with leaves cut out on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Dark and Light Stampin' Blends of your choice to color in the flower (I used Purple Posy Stampin' Blends and the Petal Pink Dark Stampin' Blends).
Use the Dark and Light Stampin' Blends of your choice to color in the leaves (I used Old Olive Stampin' Blends).
If you don't want a flower image, then skip this step.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored flower with leaves cut out to the front of the bag so it covers the top loop of the tassel.
If you don't want a flower cut out, skip this step.
