S uch a cute and easy Easter basket. It uses just one sheet of 12 x 12 paper, along with a small scrap of coordinating color if you want to color coordinate the handle with your brads.
Project Recipe
Supplies:
1 sheet 12” x 12” Card Stock
1 scrap piece 1/2” x 12” (or 1/2” x 11”) Card Stock
4 Brads
Ribbon & other embellishments as you choose
Using diagram:
Cut 1 1/2" strip off right side of 12 x 12 sheet, this will be your handle
Cut 1" strip off bottom of 12 x 12 sheet, this will be used to cover the back of the brads
With the 10 1/2" edge along the top, score 3" from the left side and 3" from the right side.
With the 11" edge along the top, score four 1" sections from the left side and four 1" sections from the right side.
Cut the eight 1" sections just to the 3" score line.
Lightly fold along all score lines.
Starting with the strip closest to the middle, bring the cut sections to align with the top of the larger middle section to form your basket end. Hold them together and punch a hole in all layers and insert a brad to keep closed.
Repeat this for the other three corners of the basket.
Using the 1" strip cut off earlier, cut off two 3" sections to cover the brad backs. Adhere to the top inside of the basket covering the brads.
Add the 1/2" colored strip to the 1 1/2" handle section. Adhere the handle to the inside of the basket (over the 3" sections added above) with a strong tape or glue.
Add bows and any other tags or embellishments you want to add.
Done! So fun and easy!
This basket can also be made with an 8 1/2” x 11” piece of paper, plus a scrap of 1 1/2” x 11” for the handle. See diagram at right for changes.
