F un Christmas card perfect to go along with a homemade gift or to give to a fellow crafter.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Shaded Spruce Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2" x 3" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2" x 4-3/4" of Christmas stockings on white background design from Wrapped In Plaid 6x6" Specialty Designer Series Paper,
- 1-3/4" x 2-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
Insert the 4" x 5-1/4" white rectangle into the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder so the lines will run horizontally across the horizontal rectangle. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed white rectangle to the front of the Shaded Spruce card.
Mount the rubber stamp image from the Crafting Forever Set on Block B. Use the brush tip of the Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker to ink up only the words and tiny hearts in the center of the stamp. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it in the upper left corner of the Crumb Cake horizontal rectangle.
Tip: Make sure you use the regular Stampin' Write Marker, NOT the Stampin' Blends to ink up the words. If you use the Stampin' Blends, it will permanently stain the stamp and won't stamp onto cardstock.
Adhere the stamped Crumb Cake rectangle to the front of the card so the top edge is 5/8" from the top of the card and the left edge is 7/8" from the left edge of the card.
Adhere the strip of Wrapped In Plaid 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper to the front of the card at an angle so it covers the bottom of the Crumb Cake rectangle.
Mount the scissors image from the Crafting Forever Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the remaining white rectangle in the center.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the scissors image on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the darker colors first as highlights and then blend everything together with the lighter colors. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate Markers to color in the blades of the scissors.
Use the Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Markers to color in the handles of the scissors.
Use the Color Lifter Marker to remove any excess ink.
Cut out the colored scissors image by hand using Paper Snips.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out scissors to the front of the card so the blades overlap the right side of the Crumb Cake rectangle and one of the blades tucks underneath the top edge of the designer paper strip.
Mount the "for you" sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Shaded Spruce horizontal rectangle.
Pick out the stitched oval tag die from the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box Dies. Put it on top of the Shaded Spruce Cardstock on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered with the hole of the tag on the left side. Run through the tool.
Cut a 6-1/2" piece of Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine.
Fold the twine in half. Feed the looped end through the hole in the top of the tag. Feed the loose ends through the loop. Pull the twine down tightly.
Loop the loose ends of the twine behind the tag so they stick out on the lower right side of the tag. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to hold the twine in place.
Remove the protective backings from the Dimensionals and adhere the tag at a slight upward angle to the card front so it overlaps the lower left side of the designer paper strip.
