F un little boxes using some sneak peek products from Stampin' Up!
Project Recipe
Cut card stock and designer series paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- 2 pieces, each 3-3/4" x 5-1/2" cut from matching patterns of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, cut so the grain of the wood is horizontal across the 5-1/2" direction
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" from Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock
- 2" x 3" from Tranquil Tide Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Cajun Craze Cardstock
- scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock at least 2" wide
Pick out the half crate framelit from the Wood Crate Framelits. Place one piece of the Wood Textures Designer Paper on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the half crate framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Repeat the step above with the other piece of designer paper.
Fold the crate pieces on all score lines.
Use Tear & Tape Adhesive on the flaps to adhere the two crate pieces together. Use SNAIL on the bottom flaps to hold them together. Be aware that the short sides of the crate stick up above the front and back sides of the crate.
Mount the flowerpot full of paintbrushes image from the Crafting Forever Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Basic Black Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it on the Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock rectangle. I recommend using the thick cardstock for this because it holds up better to the watercoloring and the paintbrushes stand up better after you cut them out because the thick cardstock is stiffer. Allow the image to thoroughly dry.
Unlock the Pretty Label Punch. Slide the Tranquil Tide Cardstock into the punch and punch.
Unlock the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. Slide the Cajun Craze square into the punch and punch.
Mount one of the sentiments from the Crafting Forever Set on Block C. Ink it up using the Tranquil Tide Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock.
Unlock the 1-1/2" Circle Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped sentiment into the punch. Get the sentiment centered in the punching area and punch.
Adhere the sentiment circle to the Cajun Craze circle and then adhere the circles to the center of the Pretty Label punch out.
Adhere the punch outs to the front of the crate on the right side.
Cut a 4" piece of Crushed Curry 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon. Tie it in a half knot and trim the ends.
Adhere the ribbon to the lower right of the circles using a Mini Glue Dot.
Once the flowerpot full of paintbrushes image is completely dry, use an Aqua Painter filled with water to pick up ink from the pad lids and watercolor in the image. Before opening an ink pad, squeeze the lid into the pad. Then, open the pad, but leave the lid sticking out to the side. You should have a puddle of ink in the lid. Use the tip of the Aqua Painter to pick up color. Pick up more color from the pad lid as needed. Clean the tip of the brush between colors by scribbling on scratch paper. Remember to leave some areas darker than others for shading. I used the following inks:
- Cajun Craze on the flowerpot and some of the paintbrush handles
- Calypso Coral on some of the paintbrush handles and the Exacto knife handle
- Tranquil Tide on some of the paintbrush handles
- Crushed Curry on the pencil, some of the paintbrush handles, and the metal bands on the paintbrushes and Exacto knife
- Sahara Sand on the brush bristles and the top of the pencil
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to paint in the blade on the Exacto knife.
Carefully cut out the flowerpot full of paintbrushes using Paper Snips.
Adhere the flowerpot image to the left side of the crate front.
