B right friendship card using heat embossing and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and glimmer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Shy Shamrock Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Thick Cardstock
- 3-1/2" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 2" square of Shy Shamrock glimmer paper from 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer 12" x 12" Specialty Paper
- 2-1/2" x 3" from Basic White Thick Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 2-3/4" from Shy Shamrock Cardstock
Note: You can use regular Basic White Cardstock in all cases if you prefer, but the Thick Cardstock holds up better to getting wet and being heat embossed.
DO THIS STEP FIRST!
Use the brush tip of the Shy Shamrock, Pretty Peacock, and Shaded Spruce Stampin' Write Markers to scribble all over Block D. Spritz the colored block with water using a Stampin' Spritzer to make the ink run and blend together. Stamp the inky block onto the 2-1/2" x 3" thick white rectangle. Set aside to allow to dry.
Rub the Embossing Buddy included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit over the entire 4" x 5-1/4" thick white rectangle.
Mount the Leaf Collection stamp on Block F. Leave the stamp rubber side up on your work surface and press the open VersaMark Ink Pad all over it.
Leave the stamp inky rubber side up on your work surface. Carefully place the 4" x 5-1/4" thick white rectangle on top of the inky stamp so it is centered. Place a piece of Grid Paper on top of the cardstock/inky rubber and rub firmly all over. Remove the Grid Paper and the inked up cardstock rectangle.
Lay the VersaMark stamped rectangle in the center of the Powder Pal included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. Sprinkle on some white powder from the Basics Wow! Embossing Powder so it covers the entire rectangle. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool on the highest setting until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use the Crafting Tweezers included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit to hold the cardstock while you are heating it so you don't burn your fingers.
Lay the heat embossed thick white rectangle on some Grid Paper on your work surface.
Ink up the Stampin' Brayer by running it across the open Shy Shamrock Ink Pad several times. Make sure not to roll back and forth, but roll from one direction only.
Roll the inked up Stampin' Brayer across the heat embossed thick white rectangle. Repeat a couple of times with a newly re-inked brayer until you have the coverage you want.
Note: I just clean the brayer by running it under some water and letting it air dry.
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Shy Shamrock Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub the inky dauber all over the heat embossed thick white rectangle getting ink into all the little areas around and inside the heat embossed leaves. Get more ink on the Sponge Dauber as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Rub a clean tissue or paper towel all over the inked up, heat embossed rectangle to remove excess ink.
Adhere the heat embossed and inked white rectangle to the front of the Shy Shamrock card.
Pick out the die from the Spotlight On Nature Dies that cuts out a circle that is 3-1/4" in diameter and has dots and dashes all around the outer edge. Put it on top of the large white square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
As you are ready to stamp using the Country Flowers Set, place the cardstock or glimmer paper on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "so lucky to know you" sentiment from the Country Flowers Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Shy Shamrock Ink Pad. Stamp it on one side of the circle cut out as close to the edge as possible and centered up and down.
Adhere the stamped circle cut out to the front of the card so it is centered side to side and is about 5/8" from the top edge.
Mount the milk can image from the Country Flowers Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad. Carefully stamp it on the Shy Shamrock rectangle of 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer Paper. Be sure not to let the stamp slide on the paper.
Pick out the matching, open milk can die from the Country Flowers Dies. Put it on top of the stamped milk can image on the glimmer paper on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Adhere the milk can cut out to the front of the card as shown so it overlaps the lower right side of the sentiment circle cut out a bit.
If your spritzed, scribbled thick white cardstock rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step. You can speed up drying with the Heat Tool if needed.
Mount the leafy plant image from the Country Flowers Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad. Stamp it on the spritzed and scribbled thick rectangle so you get a variety of greens on the leaves.
Pick out the matching, leafy plant die from the Country Flowers Dies. Put it on top of the stamped leafy plant image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the leafy plant cut out to the front of the card as shown so it overlaps the top of the milk can cut out a bit.
Pick out the solid, large group of connected leaves and one of the smaller groups of leaves dies from the Country Flowers Dies. Put them on top of the Shy Shamrock rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick as needed to remove the pieces.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the large group of leaves cut out into two pieces.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the cut down groupings of leaves to the front of the card so they stick out from behind the top of the leafy plant cut out as shown.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the loose, single leaves to the front of the card as shown. Adhere the group of two connected leaves to the front of the card so they poke out from behind the lower right side of the leafy plant cut out as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large Shy Shamrock dot from a sheet of 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the card front as shown just below the sentiment and to the left of the milk can.
