P retty Christmas card using the double-embossing technique and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, foil sheets, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Smoky Slate Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Night Of Navy Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square of mirrored foil finish from Silver Foil 12" x 12" Specialty Pack
- 2-1/8" square from Adhesive Sheets
- 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
Open the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. Lightly rub the open VersaMark Ink Pad over the inside of the bottom flap (the one without the Stampin' Up! logo and line). Don't press too hard.
Insert the large Night Of Navy rectangle into the inked up Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder so the music will run horizontally across the horizontal rectangle. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to make sure it is lined up straight. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Lay the dry embossed and VersaMark stamped Night Of Navy cardstock rectangle on top of some Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some silver powder from the Metallics Stampin' Emboss Powders so it covers the entire rectangle. Tap off excess powder. If desired, use a brush to knock off even more embossing powder. You want the embossing powder to be very splotchy. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Adhere the dry and heat embossed Night Of Navy rectangle to the front of the Smoky Slate card.
Pick out the open, bell cookie die from the Gingerbread Dies. Put it on top of the Night Of Navy square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Leave the die out.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets square. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets square to the white side of the silver foil square. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the detailed bell cookie die and the open bell cookie die from the Gingerbread Dies. Put the detailed bell cookie die on top of the foil square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the silver foil side is face up. Place the open bell cookie die on top of the foil square as well so it is centered over the detailed bell cookie cut out. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Tip: Keep the detailed bell cut out to use on another project if you wish.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the outline bell cut out. Adhere it to the edges of the solid blue bell cut out.
Carefully remove the protective backing from some of the interior bell cut outs. Adhere them to the interior of the solid blue bell cut out outined by the silver bell outline as desired.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the layered bell cut out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it is centered side to side and is slighlty to the left of center.
Mount the "'Tis The Season" block sentiment from the Christmas To Remember Set on Block G. Ink it up with the VersaMark Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small strip of Night Of Navy Cardstock.
Lay the stamped sentiment on top of some Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some silver powder from the Metallics Stampin' Emboss Powders so it covers the entire sentiment. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the cardstock while using the Heat Tool to avoid burning your fingers.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the stamped and heat embossed sentiment by hand leaving a thin line of blue showing around the edges.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the right edge of the bell a bit near the top of the curve at the bottom of the bell.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a large rhinestone from a sheet of Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is barely tucked under the bottom edge of the bell cut out in the center as the clapper for the bell.
Cut a 5-1/2" piece of the Smoky Slate 7/8" Textured Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at the top of the bell cut out.
