F un easel Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, foil sheets, and doily pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer and Paper Snips:
- card from Shaded Spruce Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2" x 8-1/4"
- 2 pieces each 4" x 5-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
- 2" x 3-7/8" of small white deer and light green pine boughs on dark green background of Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper
- 1/4" x 3-7/8" of Copper Foil Sheets
- 2 pieces each 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" of Copper Foil Sheets
- half of a Pearlized Doily
- scrap of Shaded Spruce Cardstock at least 2-1/4" wide
- scrap of Whisper White Cardstock at least 2-1/4" wide
Fold the cardstock on all score lines so that all folds are mountain folds.
Adhere one of the Old Olive rectangles to the inside of the card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Christmas Pines Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "may the simple joys ... " sentiment from the Christmas Pines Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Shaded Spruce Ink Pad. Stamp on the Whisper White rectangle.
Unlock the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Unlock the 2" Circle Punch. Slide the small rectangle of Shaded Spruce Cardstock into the punch and punch.
Adhere the sentiment circle to the Shaded Spruce circle. Then, use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the matted sentiment circle to the center of the Old Olive piece on the inside of the card. This will help hold your easel card open.
Pick out the medium, skinny pine bough thinlit from the Pretty Pines Thinlits. Build the following sandwich in this order on top of the Big Shot:
- Big Shot Platform with Thin Die Adapter removed
- white Impressions Pad from Big Shot Embossing Mats
- thin dark blue silicone rubber mat from Big Shot Embossing Mats
- large Shaded Spruce rectangle
- pine bough thinlit with cutting side down so the top tip is pointing into the upper right corner as close to the edge as possible
- clear Standard Cutting Pad
Run the sandwich through the Big Shot a couple of times.
Tip: This sandwich will let the detailed thinlit dry emboss the cardstock instead of cutting it.
Pick out the short, skinny pine bough thinlit from the Pretty Pines Thinlits. Build the following sandwich in this order on top of the Big Shot:
- Big Shot Platform with Thin Die Adapter removed
- white Impressions Pad from Big Shot Embossing Mats
- thin dark blue silicone rubber mat from Big Shot Embossing Mats
- large, already dry embossed Shaded Spruce rectangle
- pine bough thinlit with cutting side down so the top tip is pointing up and it is on one side of the previously embossed pine bough with the bottom edge near the bottom of the previously embossed pine bough
- clear Standard Cutting Pad
Run the sandwich through the Big Shot a couple of times. Repeat using the same sandwich with the thinlit on the other side of the previously embossed pine bough.
If you haven't already done so, use Paper Snips to cut a Pearlized Doily in half. Adhere one half to the left side of the dry embossed Shaded Spruce rectangle about 2-1/2" from the bottom. Put the other half away to use on a future project.
Adhere the piece of Under the Mistletoe Designer Paper to the dry embossed Shaded Spruce rectangle so it is just under the half doily.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the long, thin strip of Copper Foil Sheets. Use Paper Snips to trim off excess adhesive along one long edge. Peel off the protective backing and adhere the strip of Copper Foil Sheets to the bottom of the designer paper layer so it covers the seam between the designer paper and the cardstock.
Cut a 4-3/4" piece of the Shaded Spruce ribbon from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack.
Lay the ribbon across the dry embossed cardstock/designer paper layer so the ribbon covers the seam between the two layers. Flip the layer over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the Shaded Spruce rectangle. Adhere it to the other Old Olive rectangle.
Put adhesive on the bottom flap of the card front ONLY. Make sure to leave at least 1/4" on the bottom and sides clear of adhesive. Do NOT put adhesive on the top of the card front above the fold. If you do, you will have a normal card instead of an easel card.
Adhere the matted cardstock/designer paper/foil sheet/doily layer to the bottom of the card front.
Pick out the small, solid deer with no antlers framelit from the Detailed Deer Thinlits. Place it on top of one of the Copper Foil Sheets rectangles on top of a Cutting Pad on the Big Shot. Make sure the copper side is facing up! Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Keep the framelit out for the next step.
Place a small piece of copy paper on top of a Cutting Pad on the Big Shot. Place the other Copper Foil Sheets rectangle upside down (copper side down) on top the copy paper. Place the solid deer without antlers framelit on top. Make sure the copper side is facing down! Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Throw away the copy paper cut out.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the two deer cut outs to the card front on top of the doily half so the noses almost touch.
Cut a 3" piece of the Shaded Spruce ribbon from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack.
Tie it to the ribbon on the card front using a half knot so it is centered under the deer noses. Trim the ends.
