S oft and pretty birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and vellum pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from Seaside Spray Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of So Saffron vellum from Perennial Essence 12" x 12" Vellum Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" from Vellum Cardstock
Mount the large, open-winged butterfly image from the Butterfly Wishes Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp on one end of the horizontal strip of plain Vellum Cardstock. Set aside to let dry.
Place the piece of So Saffron Vellum horizontally on top of some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. Make sure the slightly rougher, more intensely colored side of the vellum is facing up.
Mount the long stem with flowers and leaves image from the Butterfly Wishes Set on Block I. Use the brush tips of the markers to color directly onto the stamp. Use Soft Suede for the stems, Pear Pizzazz for the leaves, and So Saffron for the flowers. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp on the left side of the horizontal piece of So Saffron Vellum so the end of the stem goes off the left edge about 1-1/2" from the top edge and the leaves on the end of the stem image are pointing to the right edge. Leave the stamp on the block.
Mount the "birthday wishes" sentiment from the Butterfly Wishes Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it just below the stamped stem, leaves, and flowers image on the So Saffron Vellum so it is between the flowers and leaves. Set the vellum cardstock aside to let it dry.
Use the brush tip of the markers to re-ink the stem with leaves and flowers image as before. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the image on the left side of the horizontal white rectangle so the end of the stem goes off the left edge about 1-1/2" from the top edge, but angle the image so the end of the stem with the leaves is pointing to the upper right corner.
If the stem with leaves and flowers image and sentiment stamped on the So Saffron vellum is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying a little, by pressing the inked side of the vellum to Grid Paper or scrap paper firmly without moving it!
Put small dots of SNAIL Adhesive on the BACK side of the stamped vellum where it will mostly be hidden by the stamped flowers and leaves images. Also, run a straight line of SNAIL Adhesive horizontally across the bottom of the of the BACK side of the stamped vellum about 1/2" from the bottom edge.
Adhere the stamped So Saffron vellum to the stamped white rectangle. The stems with flowers and leaves images should overlap a bit.
Cut a 6" piece of Seaside Spray 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the matted white and vellum rectangles so it covers the line of SNAIL across the bottom of the vellum. Flip the rectangles over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the Whisper White cardstock. Adhere it to the front of the Seaside Spray card.
Cut a 4" piece of Seaside Spray 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the center of the ribbon already on the card front.
If the butterfly image stamped on the vellum is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying a little, by pressing the inked side of the vellum to Grid Paper or scrap paper firmly without moving it!
Unlock the Butterfly Duet Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped butterfly on the plain vellum into the punch. Get the butterfly centered in the punching area for the large butterfly. Punch.
Bend the wings of the butterfly punch out up a bit.
Use a small dab of SNAIL or a Mini Glue Dot on the back of the center of the butterfly punch out to adhere the butterfly punch out at a slight angle in the upper right corner of the card front.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up three small rhinestones from a sheet of Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the centers of three of the flowers.
