F un, interactive birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Perfect Plum Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 2 pieces each 4" x 5-1/4" from Soft Sky Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 4" from Always Artichoke Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Perfect Plum Cardstock
Put a tiny dab of SNAIL in the center of one of the Soft Sky rectangles. Lightly adhere it to the front of the Perfect Plum card.
Unlock the Classic Label Punch. Slide the right side of the card front into the punch as far as it will go with about 1/4" of the card front showing above the edge of the entire punch. Punch.
Remove the punched Soft Sky layer from the front of the card and place it on Grid Paper to protect your work surface as you stamp off the edges.
Mount the fern image from the Butterfly Basics Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Always Artichoke Ink Pad. Stamp it multiple times on the Soft Sky layer around the slit punched into the cardstock. Stamp some of the images without re-inking, but remember to re-ink the stamp every so often. Let some of the images overlap and go off the edges.
Mount the small flower image from the Butterfly Basics Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Perfect Plum Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper, then stamp randomly onto the Soft Sky rectangle without re-inking. Repeat multiple times remembering to stamp off on Grid Paper before stamping on the cardstock. Let some of the images overlap the fern images. Leave the stamp on the block, you'll use it again in a later step.
Mount the honeycomb image from the Butterfly Basics Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Always Artichoke Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper. Then, WITHOUT re-inking, stamp it on the right side of the Always Artichoke strip in the center. Let the right edge of the stamp go off the right edge of the cardstock. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the honeycomb image with the Always Artichoke Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper. Then, WITHOUT re-inking, stamp it on the left side of the Always Artichoke strip in the center. Let the left edge of the stamp go off the left edge of the cardstock. Try to line it up so the right edge of the stamp will just touch or barely overlap the left edge of the previously stamped honeycomb image and be in line with it.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment on Block H. Ink it up with the Perfect Plum Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the stamped honeycomb images on the Always Artichoke strip.
Re-ink the small flower image with the Perfect Plum Ink Pad. Stamp it at the end of the "y" in the word "birthday" on the Always Artichoke strip.
Adhere the stamped Always Artichoke strip to the bottom of the stamped Soft Sky rectangle with the slit punched out of it.
Cut a 5" piece of Gold 1/8" Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the cardstock layers so it hides the seam between the Always Artichoke and Soft Sky cardstocks. Flip the cardstocks over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the cardstock. Adhere it to the front of the Perfect Plum card making sure the slits punched in the layers line up.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Gold 1/8" Ribbon. Tie it to the ribbon on the card front on the left side using a half knot. Trim the ends.
Carefully peel up a Soft Sky circle from a sheet of Subtles Enamel Shapes making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the Perfect Plum flower at the end of the sentiment on the card front.
Adhere the second rectangle of Soft Sky Cardstock to the inside of the card.
Pick out the medium sized, detailed butterfly thinlit from the Butterflies Thinlits Dies. Place the rectangle of Perfect Plum Cardstock on the Precision Base Plate on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the medium sized, detailed butterfly thinlit on top. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times. Use the Die Brush to remove the pieces.
Use the Bone Folder to lightly score a line down both sides of the butterfly's body. Fold the wings up along the score lines.
Use two Mini Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the butterfly body to adhere the butterfly to the card front so the body is centered in the slit cut into the card front. Now, when the card is opened, the butterfly wings should fold in and slip through the slit so the butterfly also appears on the inside of the card when it is opened. To re-set the card, carefully fold the butterfly wings together and slide them back through the slit in the card front and allow them to flatten out.
