A friend saw the Beautiful Peacock set and asked me to create a card for a party she wants to host. So I sat down to design something, and after a few mistakes(and a bit of frustration with my sloppiness) I decided in this post I would also be a good way to show you how to fix a card if you mess it up, and maybe a couple other tips when crafting. Take a look!
Project Recipe
Start this card with Very Vanilla Card stock cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score and fold at 4 1/4". Cut another piece to 3 3/4" x 5".
Now cut a piece of Pacific Point paper to 4" x 51/4"
Take the 3 3/4" x 5" Very Vanilla paper, and using the "So Very Much" Thank You stamp and Dapper Denim ink, stamp as shown.
Using Pacific Point ink, stamp the birds body under the Thank you as shown.
Now using Emerald Envy ink, take the fanned tail stamp and carefully line it up with the bird body and stamp. Keep using the same ink and take the plumage flourish stamp and stamp either side of the peacock as shown.
You will need to use the same stamp with a new color. You will first need to clean the stamp. I often use baby wipes to clean the stamps first while working, and then I will use the Stampin Scrubber with Stampin' Mist Cleaner to finish. It takes the majority of the ink off and keeps the Stampin' Scrubber cleaner.
Use Lemon Lime Twist to stamp the plumage again as shown, then use the tiny flower stamps and Daffodil Delight ink to add some details to the plumage.
When your stamping is done, center the stamped image on the Pacific Point paper using Snail Adhesive. Then Center that in the same way on the Very Vanilla card base.
I noticed that the birds wing had ink in it so I tried to color it in with a stampin blend pen, which I didn't like, so I stamped another bird on very vanilla paper and fussy cut it out with paper snips.
Then I put Mini Dimentionals on the back and positioned it on top of the bird on the card, covering the mistake I had made. I actually like how it turned out as it gave depth to the card. Sometimes accidents make for better designs!
Add some embellishments to finish the card. I used a few Gold Faceted gems, but thought it needed more so I took my Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends pen and colored some Basic pearls.
Since I used the smallest pearls, they are difficult to pick up, so I use my Paper Snips to take them off the sheet and then to place them where I like on the card to complete it.
I also like to decorate the envelope in some way. I used the Plumage flourish in Emerald Envy and Lemon Lime Twist on the flap randomly.
Its just a little detail that makes it a bit better IMO.
