A beautiful blizzard is one of nature's wonders. And this card is no different! It shimmers and mesmerizes just like a real blizzard!
Project Recipe
Cut/Score Paper:
Card Base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" in Night of Navy, Score at 4 1/4"
Card Front: 5 1/4" x 4" in Whisper White
Inside Panel: 5 1/4" x 4" in Whisper White
1" x 4" Strip in Night of Navy
Run the Blizzard Thinlit Die through the Big Shot.
For best results use the Magnetic Platform with the Precision Base Plate. Place the die and cardstock to the side of the Big Shot for strongest impression; Run the die/cardstock through 3-4 times. The Die cuts will remove from the die easily with our die brush.
STAMP THE CARD FRONT:
You will want to begin with biggest splatter image and start in the top corner of the card and go down at an angle.
Ink the biggest image in Balmy Blue, STAMP OFF, then stamp. Repeat with the bottom corner.
Then go to the smaller splatter image and work your opposite corners and fill in some around the middle if desired. Ink in Balmy Blue, STAMP OFF, then stamp where desired... dont forget to leave a little white space!
Repeat this step in the bottom corner of the inside card panel - STAMP OFF , then stamp.
Now use the wind stamp, and ink in Balmy Blue and stamp. Repeat randomly in different places, and change directions of the stamp some.
Repeat this step in the bottom corner of the inside card panel.
Next, use the snowflake stamp. Ink in Night of Navy and randomly stamp on the card. Stamp full strength, and then stamp again before re-inking for some color variations.
Repeat this step in the bottom corner of the inside card panel.
Finally, use your splatter dot stamp and ink it in Night of Navy. Same as the snowflake stamp, be random and stamp twice before re-inking for some neat effects.
Repeat this step in the bottom corner of the inside card panel.
HEAT EMBOSS THE SENTIMENT:
On your Night of Navy strip, punch one end with the Banner Punch.
Use the Embossing Buddy across the banner.
Ink the Sentiment in VersaMark and Stamp on the Banner. Hold a few good seconds before releasing the stamp to ensure the VersaMark is all transferred to the cardstock.
Pour some of the White Embossing Powder over the VersaMark sentiment, and repeat making sure to cover the stamped image. Thump the back of the banner to help remove any excess powder, and give it a little blow if necessary as well.
Heat Emboss. Use the heat tool to melt the powder. I turn my heat tool on high, and let my tool heat up for several seconds before aiming at my stamped image - this helps reduce paper warping. Use a pair of snips, tweezers, or a paper piercer to help hold your stamped image in place while heating. Hold the heat tool approximately 6 inches away from the stamped image and slowly move the heat tool around until all the powder is liquefied and shiny. Don't Overheat! Turn tool off when done.
ASSEMBLY - PHASE 1
Take the Silver Thread and wrap it around all 5 of your fingers about 4-5 times.
Place a strip of snail on the card front behind where the banner will be.
Lay your thread (still wound up) on the Snail strip. You can move the thread around a little to get it "messy" and tuck your ends up.
Place dimensionals on the back of your embossed sentiment and place over the snail strip.
SPRITZ:
Tip: Do a test spritz on a paper towel first to make sure you are getting a mist and not a "puddle"! If you get a "puddle", use a little rubbing alcohol to wipe the nozzle of the spritzer, shake the spritzer well, and spritz again until you get a mist.
Take the card front and place on a dry paper towel, and hold part of the paper towel up to act as a curtain. Hold the spritzer a good distance away from the card front and use it to LIGHTLY spritz the card front - Shimmer Paint is heavily concentrated so this will only 2-3 sprays.
Let the card front dry. This should only take about a minute since alcohol is very quick drying.
How to fill the spritzer: The ratio will be about 5% Paint to 95% Rubbing Alcohol. Pour a few drops of the White Shimmer Paint in the spritzer tube. Fill with rubbing alcohol, but leave a little gap at the top so there is room for the liquids to mix when you shake the spritzer. Shake it well. Follow the steps above.and do a couple of test spritzes on a paper towel to make sure you get a mist.
EMBELLISH:
Take about 3 of the Die Cut Snowflakes and put some liquid glue on the back center of them. Place on card front where desired.
Use a Piercer, Snips, or the Take Your Pick Tool to lift the rhinestones off the sheet and apply them to your card where desired.
ASSEMBLY PHASE 2:
Open the Card Base and use liquid glue or snail to attach your Inside Panel.
Close the card.
Use Liquid Glue and apply to the back of your card front and attach to the card base. (Recommend Liquid Glue due to the layering/embellishments already attached to the card front)
