Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Poppy Parade Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-1/2 x 5-3/4" from Basic Gray Cardstock
- 3" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 2-3/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
Lightly spritz the Basic Gray rectangle with water and insert into the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine. Set aside to dry.
Mount the rhino and bird image from the Animal Outing Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle.
Pick out the matching rhino and bird die from the Animal Friends Dies. Put it on top of the stamped rhino and bird image on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the image is centered. Run through the tool.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the rhino and bird cut out on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the light colors first and add highlights with the darker colors. If needed to blend the colors, go over things again with the lighter colors. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate and Light Crumb Cake Markers to color in the rhino. Leave the rhino's horn uncolored.
Use the Dark and Light Poppy Parade Markers to color in the bird.
Use the Light Crumb Cake Marker to color in the ground below the rhino.
Use the Color Lifter Marker to remove any excess color as needed.
Pick out the smooth circle die from the Layering Circles Dies that cuts out a smooth circle that is 2-5/8" diameter. Put it on top of the white square on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
Place the white circle cut out on some Grid Paper. One at a time, open the ink pads and drag the edges across the white circle horizontally multiple times until you have completely covered the circle with stripes of the three different colors. Put the Poppy Parade stripes at the bottom, most of the Mango Melody stripes in the middle, and most of the Daffodil Delight stripes at the top.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Animal Outing Set on an appropriately sized block. Ink it up with the Poppy Parade Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right of the striped circle so the red stripes are at the bottom.
If the dry embossed Basic Gray rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if needed.
Adhere the dry embossed Basic Gray rectangle to the center of the front of the Poppy Parade card. Trim off excess Basic Gray Cardstock using Paper Snips.
Adhere the stamped, striped circle cut out to the front of the card so it is about 1/2" from the bottom and the right edge. Make sure the sentiment is straight and right side up.
Use dimensionals from the Black Stampin' Dimensionals Combo Pack to adhere the colored rhino and bird cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the left side of the circle and the bottom is even with the bottom of the circle.
Cut a 3" piece of Crushed Curry 3/8" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at an angle so it is in the angle where the rhino cut out and circle cut out meet along the bottom edges.
Use the brush tip of the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends to color one of the large Melon Mambo dots while on the sheet of Glitter Enamel Dots.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick tool to pick up the colored dot being sure to get the adhesive as well. Adhere it in the upper right corner of the card front.
